Let's talk linebackers

I'm torn on CB. I think we badly need another pass rusher, but I don't know if there are any I value at 12 or 20 over the ILBs and the CBs. My ideal would be ILB and OLB/DE with the first two picks, whenever we make them. If we trade back a little, I do think we could take a swing at ILB, OLB, CB and DT in the first three rounds. Not sure what quality we'd get.
I think it is hugely important for us to get a second rounder. Like you I would love to see ILB, OLB, CB, and DT with our first four picks if we can grab a second. With ILB, I think there are 2-3 that would be great in Rd 1, 3-4 in R2 and then not really someone you would count on as a starter late in the 3rd. I don't love any of the corners in Rd 1, so I would be ok with maybe grabbing one of them later. I think getting a decent pass rusher almost has to be done with a 1st rounder and I think there are some DT's late 3rd or even 4th or 5th round that could give us some solid rotation work.

Just hoping that someone wants to move up. If not, I think it is ILB and OLB in the first, corner in the 3rd and DT later on. Probably a depth candidate for Swing Tackle, a second LB and CB, maybe a WR or RB late.

Apparently he did run the forty at his Pro Day.

I can't advocate drafting him in the 1st if he didn't run the forty.

I am not sure, but I don’t believe he ran a 40. I do think he ran some drills. If you have seen something showing a 49 time I would be really interested in that result.

My gut feeling is we will not see a 40 time on home before the draft and that is strategic by his team.

Frankly, this is a clear indictment of the front office. Ignoring the linebacker position isn’t some minor oversight — it’s outright negligence, and it falls squarely on Jerry and Stephen. If this were any other organization, heads would’ve rolled already.

When the Cowboys say they “have a plan,” what they really mean is delay, lowball, and offend players who actually fit the need. They avoid free agency like it’s a personal risk, terrified of overpaying or bruising their egos. So they sit on their hands while the roster develops obvious holes.

Eventually, they back themselves into a corner and have no choice but to reach in the draft. Valuable early picks get burned just to plug leaks that should’ve been addressed months earlier. And when the dust settles, they’ll grab a linebacker on Day 3, hype him up as a “first-round talent,” and sell it to the media.

The frustrating part? The media and a chunk of the fanbase will buy it. Again.
Not to mention taking really questionable picks like Schoonmaker, Mazi, Guyton. Those picks we waste are now coming back to haunt us at LB. Jerry has once again painted himself into a corner.

Brooks would solve problems
The Brooks rumors feel mostly media‑driven. Still, the idea makes sense, and adding him would be a real upgrade at linebacker. That’s exactly why I don’t expect it to happen. Jerry and Stephen have a habit of outthinking themselves. They’ll convince themselves they’re being clever, pass on the obvious move, and somehow turn it into a mess. Then we’ll end up drafting a linebacker in the fifth round who’s already hurt and won’t see the field all season.

It sure paid off last year when they pulled off the trade for Pickens. Hopefully, they can do it again.

I do wonder if he blows people away at his proday does he pass up Mansoor with some teams.
I might be repeating myself but if McCoy checks out as healthy then I wouldn't be surprised if he goes before Delane even if his numbers aren't superb.

His 2024 tape is that good.

I think you're right, and I really hope he does well. Our chances at having a blue chip player fall to 12 may well depend on it.
