Let's think a bit clearly about FA...

If you think Cowboys fans are going crazy, how do you think fans of the teams below are feeling:
Cincinatti
Pittsburgh
Indy
K.C.
New England
Miami
New York Jets
Oakland
Tennessee
Atlanta
Chicago
Detroit
Seattle
Tampa Bay
New Orleans
None of these teams have signed a new FA agent yet (a few have signed their own players that they had released). I guess all of these teams 2006 seasons are doomed?

Good post, now is not the time to panic. You can only judge off-season acquisitions AFTER the off season is over...not 48 hours into a weak FA market.

They're also not known for winning anything either.
That was exactly my point. I defy anyone to show me a team that spent big $$$ in FA grabbing big "names" win a Super Bowl in recent years.

Anyone, anyone.....

So I dunno--somehow I don't see Bentley going to the Browns putting them into the Super Bowl this year. And as for us "losing" him--I never even heard reports that we were interested in him. It might have been one thing had he supposedly scheduled a visit here, but I never even heard that. So I'm not exactly sure how we "lost" him, any more than 30 other teams "lost" him. Kinda hard to lose someone you hadn't targeted in the first place.

Is it me, or did anyone notice that none of the players we have been interested have signed anywhere...

You beat me to this theme. I would have loved to sign Bentley or even someone like Hartwig (who went to Carolina) who may not have broken the bank. We still have time to sign good solid players at some need positions and build through the draft with our picks.

My concern was that we only have a couple of years with this coach and the way this team is made up and OL takes time to 'gel' and rookies take 2-3 years to get up to speed so I would have preferred to fill our OL needs via FA (at least center and tackle) and take a OG in the draft to take over once LA left. THis way we would have a line that was younger and able to hit the ground running.

Let me play devil's advocate, going by what you said, if all the smart teams like pats and eagles are sitting tight like we are and only a few teams are active early on, then there will be more suitors for these FAs later on (all the smart teams who havent been active early on) so why would the price go down? there will more teams in the market for fewer players.
