So we have now seen one game. And yep, we lost.

With all the moaning and crying, how many of you are ready to take your predictions and lower them after this game?

Last year we were god awful for one reason, and one reason alone. Our defense could not stop anyone. Get a team to 3rd and long, and how many times did we stop them? Last year that answer would be not many.

After seeing what I saw tonight on the defensive side of the ball, I am ready to say this team will go at least 10 and 6.

Offense lost us the game tonight (with an assist by the special teams). However, Offense was not the problem last year.

If the defense gives the effort they did tonight every game, then we are only looking up. I was definitively disappointing with the outcome, but I am excited for the rest of the year!

We won't lose another game going into the bye. We finish 11-5.

I said 9-7, possible 11-5 if the defense comes around early enough.

I didn't account for boneheaded play calling and inept QBing late in the game though.

So, I'll stay at 9-7.

Looking at the schedule, i say we beat San fran, split the two games at home vs washington and detroit, then you're looking at 2-2.

Come off the BYE, lose @ NE, beat st louis, lose at philly, beat seattle, beat buffalo, lose at washington, beat miami, beat arizona, beat new york, beat tampa bay, beat philly, and beat new york again.

Just because of the schedule i still have us going 11-5 or 10-6 that's if the injuries don't kill us.

My prediction doesn't change at all, I expected to lose this game, pretty much exactly the way it happened, although I didn't think it would be Romo fumbling the ball at the goalline.

Interesting the OP mentions lowering expectations. I thought for sure this would be a thread about raising them. However, to your point, I'm taking mine down a tick.

before game ....

best case 10-6, more likely 8-8

after game.....

best case 8-8, more likely 7-9

main reason.....no depth. we are a victim of poor drafts and poor salary management. And the early and unnecessary extension of players like Ratliff tells me they haven't even learned their lesson.

I would raise my prediction after this game actually, but I expected 10-6 so going to up to 11-5 or 12-4 may be a stretch. It doesnt help that we wont have a full secondary until likely after the bye week.

10-6.

@ Jets (L)
@ San Francisco (W)
WASHINGTON (W)
DETROIT (L)
BYE
@ New England (L)
ST. LOUIS (W)
@ Philadelphia (L)
SEATTLE (W)
BUFFALO (W)
@ Washington (L)
MIAMI (W)
@ Arizona (W)
NY GIANTS (W)
@ Tampa Bay (W)
PHILADELPHIA (W)
@ NY Giants (L)

9-7. I expected a loss here, and we still have an easy schedule, b ut I've lost hope of every winning anything with Romo until proven otherwise.

I think you misunderstood me. After tonight's game, I wouldn't lower my expectations. I think last years problem was the defense, and the defense alone. After tonight, I see good things ahead with the way the defense played.

Sure, we have depth issues on the team, but who else in this league doesn't? How many teams are going to survive their top three corners out of the game (Jenkins did come back). I think you could make a case for lack of depth at one position on this team, and that is at ILB. Other than that, I think we are as good at depth as any team in the league over all. Good in areas, and thin in others.

I know alot of people were whining about OL depth after Smith got hurt, but what others teams in the league are over flowing with OL depth? Hell, most of the teams in this league have questions surrounding their starting OL much less the backups.

I guess let me clarify my point by saying i believe depth cost us this game. When we were up 14, our untimely secondary injuries allowed an otherwise struggling jets offense to cruise to an easy TD. that allowed them to get off the mat in the first place.

certainly there are other teams that have similar issues, but i'm not concerned with them. I am concerned with us. and I believe our depth deficiencies are not done costing us games.

15-1 of course. The loss still hurts, but I feel we outplayed them and just need to fix those errors and this can make it. Im part homer too. :D

There's plenty of time to change your mind.

If we beat New England and are 3-2 or better with Romo having a good game will that be good enough for you?

What other teams in the league would have no issue with having all three starting CBs out? Depth at CB is not even an issue for this team, at least at the start of the season. No team is so deep that they can shrug off that kind of occurrence. I don't think that you can reasonably state that depth cost us this game, because no team has that much depth at any position.

Does that make sense? I can see your point, but it is not something that you can draft or pay your way out of. No one would devote so much to one position just to be ok if they lost 3 starters...

Romo's had five years to prove me right. I've defended him in the face of endless adversity here. He, Ware and Witten are the only players I never, ever wavered on. No loss had ever caused me to lose faith, not even his collapse in Pittsburgh in 2008.

Tonight I lost my faith in Romo. It hurts to admit that, more than you know, but I lost it. Nothing short of a SB title will bring me back, because he has come up short one too many times now. Tonight changed my outlook on the current state ofm the franchise forever, and this fact is unbelievably upsetting.
