Are they playing Williams and Collins in the wrong spots? I don’t think Collins would have been pushed around as much, he is physically much stronger where as Williams technique would be better suited for the outside. He was just getting pushed around, definitely needs another off season to gain strength and hopefully gets stronger this season.

I never wanted Collins moved to RT to begin with. He's a road grading stud of a guard. That was a Jerry and Collins move. He wanted to play there and get paid like a tackle and Jerry always caves to his players.

@ this point...I think a reshuffled O-line might be the only answer. CW was horrible as expected. The kid needs a redshirt year. So I would roll w/

LT-Smith
LG-Martin
C-Frederick
RG-Collins
RT-Fleming

Fleming was pretrt awful in the PS. He really wasn't any better than Connor was at LG. If I trusted this front office to make a move, it would make too much since to bring Cooper back and let Connor sit.

The talent is all there. Guys are in the right spots. Problem in Dallas is nobody grinds. The offense looks like everyone is in quicksand. Slow, stupid and predictable every single one of them.

I think they are in the wrong sports. Williams is much lighter (needs to gain size/strength like anyone just turned 21 years old) and more agile - he has good feet - he gets to right spot, just driven back or brushed aside...
Collins is a mauler and strong but his punch always looks awkward and he isn't anywhere near as agile on feet - much thicker and stronger - fits guard better.
I posted this a couple of times - there was a merged thread on it - will probably get merged there...
BUT, bit late to try the change, unless maybe they put Collins to LG and put Flemming in at RT as some suggest and practice Williams there, and force feed and make him lift weights all day lol

Everybody seems to forget that Collins was very inconsistent at LG. Leary was better. Williams will improve, but Frederick being out hurts more than anything.

I wouldn't move Martin. I'd swap Williams and Collins and plug in Fleming if Williams continues to struggle. A lot of people were happy with the idea of Collins at LG and Fleming at RT before the draft.

With Frederick toast, they probably need to retool the entire line. Possibly put Collins back at guard, maybe train Williams at center.

I was wondering the same thing prior to training camp. To me Williams seems more athletic with better balance and footwork, better suited for T but its too late now.

They kept saying Williams' arms were too short for tackle, but they are the exact same length as Collins' arms.

You would roll with a guy with Guillain-Barré Syndrome?

That's a bold strategy, Floaty.

Move him? He's talking about Marcus Martin. Zack's benched.

Frederick is not going to fix Williams or Collins. Connors has technique and strength issues. DT’s slap his arms away when he overextendeds himself and run right around him, or just shove him back into Dak. He’s bad right now.

Frederick will help Williams by helping out in the gap between the center and guard. Frederick has made several scrubs serviceable in the past . If Smith was playing better, he could help Williams as well. Williams will improve as the season goes on, so I am not worried about him. I am much more concerned with the pathetic QB play right now.

Yes. They are. I have been saying that all along.

I never understood the move of Collins to RT. He was battling it out with Leary for LG. Collins got hurt, Leary won by default and admittedly did a good job there until he left for free agency. To me, the natural thing was to put Collins right back in a LG which would have solidified 4 parts of the line leaving RT open. But Dallas could have found a RT somewhere either in the draft or free agency had they made it a priority. Look at Jeremy Parnell playing RT for the Jags. Its an intriguing concept moving Williams to RT. I think I like it.

I think that this part of the 'mess' will work out. Get Frederick back in the mix, and the entire line will return to coming together. The 'rook' will get NFL strengths and with the first unit on the carpet, teams can't focus as much on attacking weak link tendencies.

I was never sold on Collins at RT, he simply lacks the quickness in space to be a good edge "phone booth" blocker.
