LG LCD TV has vertical lines

It's a LG 55" TV and recently I have noticed when there is a light backround on the TV, it has ghost like vertical lines. They look like a series of run marks across the screen.

I am wondering if anyone knows what this is?

I have Sony LCD and recently with a light background I noticed marks that looks as if the screen has been wiped on in a vertical stroke that starts off dark and moves to the right getting lighter in color. This tv is approx. 5 yrs. old. Is this something with the LCD screens???

Not sure, I have been trying to research it. My Tv is 4 years old and just started doing it. I bought a 5 year protection plan so I am safe, I just want to know why it just happened
