I was thinking about this the other day. Jerry Jones is 74 years old. His window is becoming smaller with each passing day. Do you think this organization will be extremely different or have a major shake up after his depature in life?

I'm just curious what everybody thinks.

Hopefully not. If he's smart, and I believe he is, he has a succession plan in place. I think its pretty obvious that plan revolves around Stephen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jerry step back sometime in the next 30 years...;)

It'll effect marketing, mostly, imo. Which, quite frankly, I couldn't care less about.

His fingerprint on the club is almost nonexistent at this point (thankfully).

It'll be sad, I'm not a monster, but as far as day-to-day doings of our believed Cowboys, I see little change from where we're at today, Slammed.

Now, a decade ago, there would be a huge difference if he passed (unexpectedly). But alas, he's finally smelt what time it is. He's let go of his death grip and deferred to much wiser football operatives.

I'm praying we hire a GM (after Jerry passes), but am resigned to the fact that Stephen will play pretend while McClay runs the club as the de facto GM.

It'll be dramatically different. But I don't think there'd be turnover if he passed tomorrow. They might make McClay the actual GM, but everything else would stay pretty much as it is structurally.

What would change would be the types of decisions that get made. Jerry's the only real wildcatter in the group.

Aside from the occasional wildcatting, I see very little changing at this point when he goes, Idgit.

His wildcatting is a good point, tho.

Yeah Stephen is already the VP of player personnel. I could easily see them giving McClay the GM title and having Stephen take over the role of veto and final say as de facto owner.

As it is Charlotte heads marketing, Jr. handles business, and Stephen football. No need to shake that up.

I think they would make McClay the official GM, but the final decisions would still go thru Stephen. More or less semantics as it would still be a group think process in decisions. Stephen doesn't appear to be the type that feels the need for the spotlight, but I can see him still being point person to talk to the media on matters like players being cut, why certain decisions were made, etc.

So in a sense, same sort of deal as now, but more watered down and giving McClay (if he's still here) a little more autonomy, but not much. I think it's still very important to Stephen to keep the Cowboys brand the strongest in the NFL, but he's more likely to not get involved with things like Hard Knocks, etc.

With as little as Jerry is in control of now, there would be very little difference if he walked away today.

Heard good things about Stephen from someone who's knows the Jones's - has some smarts.

Does anyone know something others do not? Did the warranty on Jones' liver finally wear out? If so, it's not that unlikely he does not get mysteriously placed near the top of the transplant list. One can never know. Jones may have the Betty White gene. She is 95 and going strong last I heard...
