A little history on Al Davis….he died at age 82 in 2011, and at the time of his death the raiders were in the middle of six consecutive losing seasons, until his final season when they went 8-8. At the end, Davis was clearly not as sharp and with it as he had been in his 60s and 70s where his teams went to multiple SBs.How long did Al Davis hang on?
Seemed like a long time.
Jerry has now tied Al Davis as the oldest GM in NFL history, which is not in my view a great accomplishment when you consider what Davis was at the end of his life. And even more sad, like Al Davis, Jerry is convinced that despite his age and the last 28 years where his teams have gone 5-13 in the playoffs, that he is capable of bringing his team back. He clearly is not.
