How long did Al Davis hang on?
Seemed like a long time.
A little history on Al Davis….he died at age 82 in 2011, and at the time of his death the raiders were in the middle of six consecutive losing seasons, until his final season when they went 8-8. At the end, Davis was clearly not as sharp and with it as he had been in his 60s and 70s where his teams went to multiple SBs.

Jerry has now tied Al Davis as the oldest GM in NFL history, which is not in my view a great accomplishment when you consider what Davis was at the end of his life. And even more sad, like Al Davis, Jerry is convinced that despite his age and the last 28 years where his teams have gone 5-13 in the playoffs, that he is capable of bringing his team back. He clearly is not.

Question :
If they have several losing season under SJ and the stadium starts having empty seats, will SJ stay in charge or hire a GM?
IMO, the stadium will seldom have empty seats. As we continue to slide, there will just be a lot more opposing fans in the seats.

IF Stephen ever hired a GM, I could see him constantly undermining him like Jerry has taught all the Jones kids.

Life after Jerry?

LOL. His son might be a bigger boob and cheaper than the dad. We are screwed.
Yeah, but the son might not feel the need to be the focal point. Might stay more in the shadows like an owner should & hire people to tend to the football side of the business.

I hope someone else hires Will McClay as a GM. I'd like to see Jerry humiliated even more when the team stops drafting well.

Don't care what it looks like as long as he doesn't see any playoff victory ever.

honestly - i think some of the drafting success goes to Stephen - and i am not insinuating its due to his football knowledge but rather his ability to take the inputs form the scouts and help arm people like WIll Mclay to make the decisions, all while selling into his dad.

I have hope that he will hire a GM
I think Jerry is grooming him to be just like dear old dad, so Stephen will also think he knows as much about football as professionals (who spend all their focus on it) after spending years working right beside his father. Also like his father, he played football for the Razorbacks, so he's going to think that qualifies him for the GM role.

I have no hope that anything will change after Jerry's gone.
