Dexter would be a very good choice. The writers of The Wire had a miniseries that came out before The Wire called The Corners. They don't have anything to do with each other but a few of the actors are in both.

I tried to watch some of it but it was a little to slow for my tastes.

Also if you like cheesy SciFi the new Battlestar Galactica is pretty good. Lots of eye candy. :D

Got all 6 seasons of the Shield(can't wait for season 7) for Christmas. Have finished Six Feet under, In the middle of Season 3 of the Sopranos, just started season 2 of the Wire. I didn't watch the Wire when it was on so I am watching it for the first time. I bought the box set at Best Buy for $90. I loved the first season. The whole Barksdale saga and Daniels crew setting up shop. I can't imagine anything being better than season 1 but we will see.

The first 3 seasons of The Wire were great, the 4th very good and the last was good. I just didn't like the focus of it.

I've seen all 7 seasons of the Shield, the last season was amazing best show ever with the way it all ends

The 3rd season of the Wire was my favorite season of that show

I just finished Season 3. It was awesome. I knew about Stringer's death from message boards and youtube but that was some quality drama. I do have one question. Why was Marlo at Avon's sentencing and gave a nod? Was that a passing of the torch type of thing. Also what Marlo did to Devonne. That was coldblooded.

It was cold blooded but she tried to set him up. :laugh1:

Seasons 1 and 3 were my favorite by far.

I agree with this. Season 4 suffered because of no McNulty and Barksdale and Stringer Bell were gone. Season 5 was just too outlandish for me to even put in the same class as 1-3.

I just finished them all myself. I'm going to Entourage.

I wasn't too sure I'd like Entourage myself,But I'm surprised I'm enjoying it as much as I am. I'm on season three now. What takes getting used to is that after watching the other HBO shows, the episodes of Entourage are less than 30 minutes long each,so the idea of watching one episode,or maybe two a night, turns into three or four a night. You can sure burn thru a season pretty quick.

At one point I was burning through 4 or 5 episodes of The Wire a night.

That's what I have done. I bought the box set about a month ago and I am a already to start Season 4. I watched probably about 2-3 episodes a day.

It is an excellent buy, very cheap. I bought it for $120 on amazon. I will warn that the packaging is not very good. They put the DVD's in too tight and when you try to pull it out it scratches the CD so I bought some thin paper sleeves to put them in instead.
