I love Elvis Costello!

Top Elvis songs to download (even better go out and buy, but for anyone looking to get started):

- New Amsterdam
- I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea
- Green Shirt
- Boy With A Problem
- Alison
- High Fidelity
- Night Rally
- Oliver's Army
- Accidents Will Happen
- Clubland

I'll add:

Brilliant Mistake
Sulky Girl
Almost Blue - like the Chet Baker version better though
Indoor Fireworks - has one of the best lines ever:

"And don’t think for a moment, dear
That we’ll ever be through
I’ll build a bonfire of my dreams
And burn a broken effigy of me and you"

Still waiting...

Husker Du, The Replacements and The Pixies are three of my favorite 80s alt rock bands. It's also hard to beat The Smiths/Morrissey, Elvis Costello and X.

Awesome stuff. Love Bob Mould, 'Mats before they got sober, and "Surfer Rosa" kills.

I'm about half way through "It Crawled from the South: An R.E.M. Companion" by Marcus Gray and highly reccomend it for any fan of R.E.M.'s early work.

I didn't see anyone mention Echo and the Bunnymen and the House of Love whose self-titled debut was quite good although difficult to come by these days.

I like Echo a bunch - saw them play several times.

However, once I heard Jesus and Mary Chain, much of what Echo was doing seemed obsolete -- like someone else was doing is better and stronger.

JMC was one of my favorite bands. Psychocandy and Darklands got lots of playtime in my Sony walkman.
