My only thing is that I believe that Oliver Hoyt will beat out John Saldi and become a special teams demon.

Rich.......

John Saldi is a tremendous playmaker on Defense and Special Teams.

Only on a Cowboy board does Bradie James > Joey Porter.

We have good depth, talent, and potential to have a great LB core. We really do. But there are still question marks concerning it before we can label it as "the best." Carpenter hasn't played a down. Ayodele hasn't played ILB in a 3-4.

Ware proved last season he is the WOLB we need. Bradie stepped up his play immensily (hopefully, not a fluke).

I'd give the edge to NE and Pittsburgh before us, simply bec. there players are more proven as of now.

Though, I think that will change shortly.

Also, no one brought up San Diego's excellent front 7 either.

Put Bradie James behind the defensive line that Joey Porter has.

I think it will be Hoyte on the 53; Parham to the practice squad.

I think Parham will make the squad. Just a hunch. I like our crew this year. We are going to have all kinds of speed at the linebacker position and putting a healthy Singelton or Carpenter opposite Ware I think tackles are going to dread playing us.

I like Parham but I think he goes to the practice squad.

I would tend to agree with most if not all of your predictions except I think it will take Carpenter 3 or 4 games to get the speed of the game down. I look for him to crack the starting lineup then, say, maybe in the 5th game.

not me, I think Parcells starts Carpenter from Day 1 like he did w/ Ware last year, afterall, Carpenter is further along at this point than Ware was this time, last year

if Carp doesn't start, it'll be because he can't wrest the job away from Al, who's pretty good, it won't be because he doesn't get it, cuz I think he does

I agree with you that Carpenter starts Day 1 of the season.

the San Diego LB corp leaves alot to be desired, Foley wasn't as good last year as he was in '04, they really only have Merriman back there, I'll give them that their 3-down lineman are pretty *** good though

but back to the original point, being a top 3 LB corp is pretty good, and behind 2 very good ones in Pitt and NE

That's who I think Cowboys should trade Ellis off for. Foley. He's a pass-rusher like Ware. A stand-up and hand down to the ground type guy.

Foley is on the decline

OLB: Carpenter, Al Singleton
LILB: Akin, Burnett
RILB: Bradie, Fowler
OLB: Ware, Boiman

So its for sure that Burnett is moving inside then? Not doubting you, I just don't know....

As for the post below you, I also agree. If Carpenter gets beat out, its bec. Al beat him out. Carpenter has OLB experience. Ware didn't. Carpenter is ahead of Ware in that regard.

Though, I do believe its not entirely for sure we will start Carpenter. We had no choice to start Ware last year, because as a rookie, he was our best pass rusher/only pass rusher.

This year, we have options if Parcells wants to keep Carpenter on the bench for awhile.

Burnett is a all-around versatile linebacker. He could play any linebacker position.

Carpenter is a all-around linebacker he could play either linebacker position.

I remember reading, don't ask me when or where, I don't know, so you're going to have to trust my memory on this one, that Parcells wanted Burnett to move inside to take advantage of his athleticsm and playmaking skills, I believe, and I think the coaches believe, that his skills are best suited at the weakside ILB position in the 3-4, which is currently occupied by Akin and his fat contract, but they'll be moving Burnett around, I just feel he'll be listed as the backup to AKin when it's all said and done

and I agree, Dallas has an option for sitting Carp down for a time, but I feel that BIll wants to get him on the field immediately
