Linehan should utilize Dez like Percy Harvin

I'm watching the replay of Seattle vs. GB game on NFL Network. Percy Harvin is lining up everywhere. Slot, split right/left, backfield - you name it. It put a TON of pressure on GB's defense trying to account for him. This really opened up Seattle's offense. Lynch had holes all night. Their other receivers received favorable matchups, etc.

Dez can do that for us. I think Harvin might be faster than Dez, but Dez is way stronger and is just as effective in the open field.

Minus being able to have Romo mimic Wilson's ability to run, our offense can do the same things Seattle's was able to do. I'd argue we have more weapons collectively. It all starts with Dez.

Bryant will probably play a little more in the slot but that's it. He's good at what he does. Dunbar will be the guy Dallas will use in different positions and ways to get him the ball in space. Beasley might get more screens this season too.

Dez and Harvin do not have the same skill set. Harvin is a utility player and Dez Is a pure physical WR.

Different type of player

Sure they're different, but I believe Dez is a better playmaker than Harvin is. In the last 3 years, Dez's 34 receiving TDs lead the NFL. From what I have seen and read about him during this preason, Dez is a better receiver now than he ever was before. If Linehan moves Dez around - like he was known to do with Megatron - look out.

I'm expecting big season from Dez this year.

I'm not sure about that. The only thing Harvin does that Dez doesn't is run back kicks. This is OK because we have Harris to do that.

Yep.. They are different. When Percy catches the ball he runs like a wide receiver... When Dez catches the ball he runs like a running back. It's the one of the reasons Dez scores so many touchdowns.

Dez is so explosive in the open field:

I could watch him all day. And to think, he's improved his rout running. Tomorrow can't come soon enough. :D

Has Harvin ever played a full season without getting hurt? Why expose Dez, who has back issues, to extra hits?

They has a nice player where they had a run fake and then threw a short pass to Harvin where he got some nice YAC. Most run fakes tend to involve trying to throw long, but this short run fake to pass had Harvin wide open with run to run.

I hear what your saying but I don't see how putting the ball in Dez's hands exposes him any more to injury than normal. If he were still playing special teams I'd be inclined to agree with you.

Wouldn't mind seeing that wrinkle added to our arsenal. Especially if a LB or a S ends up matched up with Dez.

Running plays exposes him to DL and LBs a lot more.
