2. DEMARYIUS THOMAS Georgia Tech 6-3 222 4.50 2
Hard to evaluate because of the Yellowjackets' wishbone-like offense. "He is helped by the 'Triple Option,'" one scout said. "The defense is so concerned with the run that it allows the receivers to go vertical." Fourth-year junior with 120 catches for 2,339 yards (19.5) and 15 TDs in 39 games, including a 25.1 mark in '09. "Has not been exposed to a full array of routes," Arizona scout Jerry Hardaway said. "Uses his raw skill to outmatch (defenders) while tracking the ball going away from his body. Has deceptive (speed) and athletic ability." His mother and grandmother are in prison for cocaine trafficking. He scored 34 on the Wonderlic intelligence test. "Big, physical guy," Tennessee scouting coordinator Blake Beddingfield said. "Strong hands. He'll snatch a ball and will run after the catch." Suffered a fractured foot in mid-February and still isn't running.

5. CHARLES BROWN Southern California 6-5 300 5.21 1-2
Converted from TE to O-line in mid-2005. "I think he'll be a fine pass protector," Indianapolis president Bill Polian said. Uses his long arms (35¼) and enormous hands (11 3/8) to ward off speed rushers. "He looks like a basketball player," one scout said. "He's got the most magical balance I've seen. Watch his footwork and look at his body. At this point his game is all finesse. I don't see him as a point-of-attack guy that you want to run the ball behind at the goal-line. He will need a line coach who can motivate him. They say he's a momma's boy and is slow to trust anybody." Two-year starter at LT. "He has no lower body strength at all," another scout said. "At least Sam Baker in '08 was a technician. He's like all those SC guys. Just a lazy dog. They don't work there. When they come out their bodies look worse than any of them. Just a thin guy." Wonderlic of 24.
7. VLADIMIR DUCASSE Massachusetts 6-4½ 331 5.25 1-2
Sent to the U.S. by his father in 2002 from his home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. First exposure to football was junior year in high school. "He's still raw," Arizona scout Jerry Hardaway said. "His English will hurt him. Doesn't really know how to bend his knees and play with consistent leverage. He's not like Jahri Evans out of Bloomsburg. He just doesn't know a lot." Three-year starter at LT. "He's a right tackle," said Polian. "He's a big old hog who will knock you around. He's got decent enough feet. Now he's making a big jump from UMass and he's not played a lot of football, but he's a pretty good player." Scored 13 on the Wonderlic. "If you've got a tackle that's not very smart, that's a real struggle," one scout said. "He might get drafted higher than he's ready for."

Has been shooting up draft boards as scouts have seen how effective he played despite regular double teams. “He’s a goin’ machine now,” one scout said. “A good football player. I could see him sneaking up the draft charts. He’s about 6-2, 295, but he stood up, played down, three-technique, end, nose guard, linebacker, sort of a neat guy. Grounded, family guy, all the great intangibles. Really respect and like him.” Had 13½ sacks and 22½ tackles for loss the last two seasons. Tested great — 4..95 seconds in the 40, 35½-inch vertical, though only 21 bench-press reps. “The best (defensive) guy in the (Pac-10),” another scout said. “He’s good, has a high motor, brings it every down, gets after it. He’s a guy I wouldn’t bet against.”

Junior-college transfer who started last two years at LT. "Heck of a football player," Tennessee national scouting supervisor C.O. Brocato said. "Big athlete. Can play guard or tackle. He can run. Only reason he won't go early is because of the baggage part." In May 2003, he was convicted of having sex at age 16 with his 15-year biological sister. He was sentenced to five years probation but did no jail time. Thus, he was a registered sex offender in Texas. "Would you want that in the newspapers the morning after you draft him?" one scout said. "He's got ability, but he won't be on our board." Long arms (35½) and a Wonderlic of 24. "He's got some third-round physical traits," another scout said. "But he's underachieved and has terrible technique and know-how. It's all part of his makeup."
This guy looks like a winner.WT ef
