Lions CB Aaron Berry was arrested on Saturday on three counts of simple assault.

That's seven arrests for the Lions this offseason and Berry has been responsible for two, both in the last 30 days. After being arrested for drunken driving on June 26, Berry reportedly pointed a firearm at three different people last night. He's surely facing league discipline and it's fair to wonder if his roster spot is in jeopardy when you consider that Detroit spent three draft picks on the position in April.

I wonder if fans here still think Garrett's high-character player approach is worthless.

The Lions are headed toward how they are at the zoo: caged. Some jailbirds for real up there in Detroit.

I'm thinking Schwartz may be the common denominator in Detroit. They still don't seem to get the press as one Dez issue though.

Of course they don't, although they might have to sign a bunch of street free agents with the amount of suspensions coming down the pipe.

Bob Sturm tweeted this this morning.

Great hypothetical playing out - Detroit has its best team in years, but 7 Lions arrests in 7 months. Fair trade?

7 Lions arrests is not as big news as Dez and his mom - LOL!

I have family in Detroit and its news there. Just kinda head shaking, typical of what you would expect from these guys. They have pretty decent fans but this is the NFL today. Nothing is a surprise anymore. Its really sad that we have come to accept this stuff as normal, buts its the norm.

Even Goodell's dictator tactics aren't enuff . . . . . . . . . . :banghead:

what is really bad is that there is very little discipline action available to the Commissioner as regards teams that allow this to happen. The Bungles had a bunch like this and nothing happened to them. It will be the same in Detroit. He can come down on players like a ton of bricks, but anything to do with the teams he has to get full approval from the NFL owners. Everything he did to the saints beyond the players suspensions had to be approved step by step by the NFL owners. And rumor has it he wanted to do a lot more then was allowed- the amount that was allowed only happened because the League is setting the stage for their defense against all the lawsuits.

One team having a number of thugs will not get the same response.

How do the teams allow this to happen?

What are they sposed to do? Hire 24 hour chaperone's for each player in season and out of season?

Dumb players hurt their own teams. Maybe you can say dumb teams draft/sign dumb players, but putting this on the "TEAMS" is ludicrous IMO.

Maybe the dictator commish should institute a zero tolerance policy and then apply it consistently - now there would be a change.

He is not the first Lion to be arrested nor will he be the last. As it seems a lot of players are being arrested during the off-season this year than in any other off seasons past. Ever noticed that?!

want some cheese with your whine?

Teams that hire thugs should pay the price. In each case there were clear signs that the players had problems before they became pros.

You are frustrated about the Lions not doing better research on the guys they bring to the team, them not caring about the character of the guys they bring to their team, or promoting an atomosphere where players are free to do dumb things?

Are you guys adults?

What if an employee for Fedex or UPS gets arrested for something stupid - should the govt. penalize the company for being so stupid as to have a stupid employee? Is it somehow the companies fault that they didnt "do enough" to babysit the employee?

The idea that somehow the team should have done more, so they should be penalized in some way is as foolish as anything I have read on this forum.

I mean seriously, do some of you even think before you post? :banghead:

You need to tone it down on the coffee.

clearly you don't

Every player that has been arrested got in trouble in college. The Lions knew this and chose them anyway

You are basically saying they have no responsibility at all

Totally lacking in logic

Probably a lot, if it weren't for Jenkins being on the PUP list.
