Lions look to improve team by signing D.J. boldin.

The Lions announced today they have signed five undrafted rookie free agents: Wake Forest wide receiver D.J. Boldin, Maine linebacker Andrew Downey, Ball State center Dan Gerberry, Northwestern defensive tackle John Gill and Alabama-Birmingham kicker Swayze Waters.

Boldin is the younger brother of Arizona star receiver Anquan Boldin.

The five prospects will participate in rookie orientation today through Sunday with the Lions' 10 draft picks and about 30 other NFL hopefuls.
