He who is without sin.......:)

I guess my point is that I only view these "infractions" in terms of potential suspension issues and not moral issues. Since I don't apply different standards, this is not hypocritical.

Their moral value to me is equal in the sense I don't really care either way whether a private individual uses prostitutes or marijuana. I do care if someone uses drugs and then tries do drive while under the influence.

I guess everyone has their own view on such matters.

What about using marijuana with a prostitute in a parked vehicle?

That's right on the border IMO.

There goes probably the best FA tackle off the board.

Not to mention, the crappiest starting left tackle in the league.

Well this just proves that the Lions are the Lions.

Tricky issue.

In Canada, I do believe you can go about these things in a fairly legal manner:

Escort services are legal, but you can't have sex in public. Need to keep the pants on here.

Marijuana possession is decriminalized.

I think you could get busted for smoking it in public, but this would usually not be enforced.

The parked car should be okay.

Overall, looks to be okay.

Yeah they are. And they gave up 31 sacks to our 50 sacks given up. You name me how many RT's in the league gave up less sacks in 16 games than Backus.

So your would rather take a draft pick OT then Fabini? You do know that only one rookie tackle starting last year gave up fewer sacks then Pettiti? Khaiff Barnes. So if you take a rookie this year and start him then likely he will do the same as pettiti- maybe a little better, but not much.

No, that is not right.

Jamal Brown 3.5 sacks, Michael Roos 6.5 sacks, Alex Barron 5.75, Rob Petitti, 13.25. Of course, I think Rob faced the toughest competition game in and game out. But still. You are wrong.

Fabini sucks anyway. I think another poster said he gave up five less sacks than Pettitti. At least Pettitti will get better, Fabini is on the decline.

That was me.

Others argued that his QB wasn't exactly helping avoid sacks. Even if true that struck me as a particularly ironic argument for bringing him in.

Forget Fabs, I'm on the Jacob Rogers bandwagon!

Someone did a study on Pettiti and showed that he was only really outperformed by Barnes. I wish I could remember who did it.

Some of that data was a stretch -- some was legit. I felt it placed too much weight on penalties. Penalties suck but they don't cause turnovers as often as sacks. Plus a sack is loss of yards AND a down. Penalties are a loss of yards. Of course, some penalties can wipe out big plays as well -- but a guy like Roos who had 9 penalties -- all false starts - isn't wiping out big plays.

not good, not good at all...

there's a lot of teams in the league. there's a lot of "repeat need" for talent at key positions. it's NOT realistic for us to think every TOP FA will wind up in dallas and when they DON'T it's even less realistic to treat that 1 player loss as if they were the saving grace of our team.
