Lions want Law if they can meet his demands
Ex-Patriots cornerback is trying to recover after suffering a broken foot seven games into 2004.

ALLEN PARK -- Cornerback Ty Law's second impression on the Lions was better than the first.
Law, a free agent released after 10 seasons with the New England Patriots, impressed the Lions enough in a workout Monday that president Matt Millen said he would like to sign him, if he can meet Law's contract demands.
"I'd like to do something if we can," Millen said. "Ty holds all the cards, No. 1. We'll be on his timetable. He moved around pretty good. He looked like he had his weight down pretty good."
Law, 31, who made the Pro Bowl four times with the Patriots, went out because of a broken left foot in the seventh game of 2004 and did not play again. He had gained considerable weight because he wasn't able to work out.
Law visited the Lions earlier this year but did not work out because he was still recovering from surgery. He said he felt good about his workout Monday.
"I did all the movements that are necessary for my position," said Law, who played at Michigan. "I feel great. There's nothing I can't do. I'm ready to play. I'm ready to roll."
Law has visited a number of teams and worked out for Jacksonville. He also plans to work out for the Jets, who need a cornerback after the retirement of Donnie Abraham.
The Lions also announced signing two draft picks -- cornerback Stanley Wilson of Stanford (third round) and quarterback Dan Orlovsky of Connecticut (fifth round) -- to three-year contracts.
