Live Pro-Day Results 3/25: UNLV, Mississippi State, Murray State
25 Mar per tfydraft.com
East Carolina, UNLV and Mississippi State highlight pro-day on Thursday. Fast rising defensive end Austen Lane will draw a big crowd at Murray State for his pro-day. It will be another long day and we’ll have results and notes through the evening. Update: Mississippi State
Mississippi State
Jamar Chaney, who was the fastest linebacker at the combine, ran his 40 in times which ranged between 4.45-to-4.48 seconds, more than one-tenth faster than his clocking in Indianapolis. Chaney looked terrific in position drills afterward. The Oakland Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals sent their linebacker coaches and Cheney met extensively with the Raiders after the workout.
Running back Anthony Dixon ran times that stopped most watches in the upper 4.5-second area (4.58). Sources told us there were also a number of watches which read in the low 4.6 area but this still represents a terrific performance for Dixon.
UMass
18 teams made their way to UMass to watch Vladimir Ducasse who improved many of his marks from the combine. His 32-reps on the bench, 8’8’’ broad jump, 28-inch vertical jump, 4.62-second short shuttle and 7.65-second three cone were all significantly better than his performances from Indianapolis.
Ducasse has official visits set up with the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. The Oakland Raiders will also privately work out the offensive lineman.
Murray State
Half a dozen teams were on hand for the Murray State pro-day to watch Austen Lane.
Lane measured 6-feet, 6-inches and 273 pounds. His 40 time of 4.76 seconds was almost .1 better than his fastest official hand time from the combine. His short shuttle time of 4.37 seconds was more than .2 better than his mark from Indianapolis. Lane pushed up 20 reps on the bench, not a great number but close to what scouts expected.
Rain forced the cancellation of position drills, though Lane performed well during defensive line and linebacker drills at the combine. As of this posting Lane has a pair of visits schedules with NFL teams.
Notes
We were told last night that Austen Lane is expected to complete everything at today’s workout except the jumps.
Foot surgery prevented receiver Ryan Wolfe of UNLV from participating in the combine but today he’ll perform for scouts. Wolf will also be privately working out for the Atlanta Falcons tomorrow. Tom Dimitroff and Mike Smith will be running the workout.
We spoke about Nevada’s Kevin Basped not looking good yesterday, something we also mentioned after his combine workout. Sources have told us Basped may not be 100% healthy. We expect to have more on this tomorrow.
