Rather a light pro-day schedule on Tuesday in anticipation of tomorrows full slate of workouts. Sam Bradford won’t be throwing in Norman yet we will still be following the news throughout the day. We start off with the early word from John Skelton in Fordham as well as a number of interesting notes. Update- Numbers from Oklahoma coming in
Oklahoma
Numbers are starting to trickle in from the Sooners pro-day in Norman. Thus far the big winner has been underrated fullback Matt Clapp.
Clapp weighed in at 228-pounds, posted a vertical jump of 35.5-inches and ran as fast as 4.57-seconds on a number of watches. His three cone was slightly over seven seconds at 7.02.
Sources have told us cornerback Dominique Franks ran in the low 4.4-second area (4.42).
Fordham
Sixteen teams are on hand in the Bronx, New York, including a number of quarterback coaches like Ken Zampese of the Cincinnati Bengals, to watch John Skelton throw the football.
Also taking part in this workout is Colgate receiver Patrick Simonds who’s already completed 24 reps on the bench and posted a 10’2’’ broad jump.
The players are about to run the forty then Skelton will throw to his receivers as well as Skelton.
Notes
Two prospects at the Utah workout are still making noise based on their performance yesterday. Safety Robert Johnson’s times in the short shuttle (4.04 seconds) and three cone (6.56 seconds) were better than the times of any defensive back who participated in those events at the combine.
Several people are comparing Kao Misi’s position workout yesterday to the performance turned in by Clay Matthews one year ago. That performance helped Matthews jump into the middle of the first round. And while that may be a bit excessive for Misi, don’t discount him in the late part of the first frame. Misi already has three private workouts set up, which we will let readers know about as the dates get nearer.
Josh Morris has been one of our favorite small school corners throughout this year’s scouting process. NFL scouts told Morris yesterday he could participate in Utah workout. Morris posted a 39.5-inch vertical jump, 10’ 7’’ broad jump and completed double digits on the bench press before someone from Utah informed Morris he could no longer participate in the workout. No reason was given. Morris will be working out today at Weber State’s pro-day.
Today is the pro-day event for Indiana-Pa. Not working out will be cornerback Akwasi Owusa-Ansah who has been given the okay to participate in the Ohio State workout this Friday, March 12th.
One riser up draft boards has been Arthur Moats, the linebacker/defensive end from James Madison. So impressive was Moats combine workout that sources have told us San Francisco 49er head coach Mike Singletary has set a date to personally workout the small school prospect.
Make Sure You check out our brand new forum and talk about all the workouts during today’s pro-day events!
