Are there any here who like to see stand-up comedians live? Who have you seen? Best shows? Biggest regret never able to see?

My wife and I have seen quite a few together but I was going before I ever met her. Not only local, but we always check on who is in town when we vacation, most of them we caught in Vegas. Chris Rock, Bill Maher, Chris Tucker, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, seen a lot…. Have never caught Dave Chapelle live, he’s tough to time right since he left his Comedy Central show but I’m sure I’ll get him one time.

Chris Rock was probably my favorite. We saw him in Vegas, and the sound system was having problems. The guy who went on in front of him was booed off the stage. Rock came on and started tearing up the Hotel and it’s problems. I guess the Hotel had some type of policy with no room service past midnight, and it had pissed him off already so he went to town on it. It was the Monte Carlo. It’s not around anymore, maybe he had something to do with it. ;)

Most surprisingly funny was Bill Bellamy. Good local comedian opening act, and saw him not long after 9/11, a lot of great jokes making light of all the darkness. Could’ve just been the booze too, I was pretty sloshed for him. LOL. Biggest regret was I never saw George Carlin or Robin Williams before they died. I had a chance to see Carlin in Los Angeles in high school. But unfortunately I was with a H.S. Group and the majority decision determined the agenda.

Never went to a show...Well, not a big name show.

Pauly Shore played a gig in my area a few years ago, but I didn't go to the show. I did however see him at Hooters, trying to pick up one of the girls. She had no idea who the old guy in sweatpants was, and he made a complete idiot of himself. Lol

Kevin Hart came to Boise like 2 years ago. That was fun and he was hilarious.

There was a funny hypnotist comedian by the name of Jay Medicine Hat that used to come through Boise all the time. His shows were absolutely hysterical. I tried to attend everytime he visited. Unfortunately he passed away several years ago.

My biggest regret was missing Dave Chappelle. He came through Boise way back in the day, before he was the much more famous Chappelle that he is today. He had just done Half Baked and his career was just starting to ascend.

I do enjoy some stand-up comedy though.

Forgot about Bernie Mac. Yes, I never got to see him either. Bernie was the man!

We saw Carlin at Olla Padrida in Dallas in a theatre in the round and he was at the angry stage of his career and the overuse of GD in every sentence and his railing on golf and golfers wasn't even funny. Some people walked out on him because he was relentless. Don't know what was going on in his life at that time but Funny George was a no show that night. He could make bitter funnier than any comedian but I guess he wasn't in a funny mood that night.

I watch quite a bit of stand up on AZ and NF and my favorites are Bill Burr, Tom Papa, Mike Birbiglia, Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan when he stops that whisper stuff playing the audience but the one that blows me away is Anthony Jeselnik. He spends so much time over the "cringe line" that he ends up making fun of himself. He is really adept in setting up the joke and he gets away with more than any comedian I have seen.

Howie Mandell was pretty funny. I remember when a heckler said during the act when the comedy was going to start and Howie said without hesitation: when you drop your pants.
Howie is great at interacting with the audience. I remember watching a special in which a lady in the audience got up to go to the bathroom. He hassled her a bit and then when she was gone he made everyone in her section switch seats around so she wouldn't know where her seat was...than he hassled her some more.

Yeah he is. A guy went to the bathroom and he had him convinced there were cameras in the bathroom and everyone knew he didn't wash his hands.

Bill Burr is suppose to perform at a casino near me but has been postponed. I hope to go when rescheduled…

Howie is really witty. One of the only reality shows I watch is AGT and Howie is great on it.

I’m not sure if Pauly Shore is a worst actor or comedian. Saw him bomb at the comedy store in Hollywood years ago. He was awful! His father cofounded the comedy store. It opened the door for him to get movie roles and comedy gigs. He doesn’t have an ounce of talent!

I met Pauly Shore at the comedy store in the early 90s. He was dating a porn star who went by the name Savanna. She had dated several famous rockers like Billy Idol, Gregg Allman and Vince Neil. Pauly Shore had Hollywood connections due to his mother and father so she used him. She committed suicide in the mid 90s after being involved in a car accident that damaged her face. Pauly Shore had to be the most untalented entertainer I had ever met. Even some of his close friends didn’t think he was funny. Saw Jay Leno at the comedy store many years ago before he hit the big time and he was funny!

Late comer to comedy - took it up mid life while going thru a divorce. Was doing open mic session - talking about the ex and looked down to see her in the audience. His family had no idea he was doing stand up.
