Commanders | Lloyd as smooth as silk
Wed, 5 Jul 2006 18:05:04 -0700
Gary Fitzgerald, of Commanders.com, reports Washington Commanders WR Brandon Lloyd has been called "smooth as silk" by associate head coach-offense Al Saunders. Saunders's description of Lloyd's skills is also an appropriate description of Lloyd himself. On the field, Lloyd is so fluid in running routes and catching passes that he sometimes makes it all look easy. Off the field, he is upbeat and seemingly always ready to offer up a smile. Lloyd seems to be adapting to his new surroundings with the Commanders. In his five months as a Commander, Lloyd has been entrenched in learning Saunders' offense. Talking to media at the June minicamp, Lloyd took on critics who suggested that, while in San Francisco, he shined at making dramatic, acrobatic catches but struggled with making basic plays. "I don't miss anything basic," Lloyd retorted. He claimed that he had just six dropped passes last year, out of 129 balls thrown his way. Lloyd added he is confident he'll produce for the Commanders in 2006.

"The biggest mistake Washington made was A) giving up a 3rd and 4th for Lloyd and B) giving him a fat extension. This guy will make some highlight catches but IMO he has zero impact on winning or losing a ballgame. He has a bad attitude, very average work ethic and can't be counted on to make that 4th quarter grab over the middle. "
