I like Michael Irvin.

Before he started working for ESPN, shouting at everyone and acting like he's god gift I loved Michael Irvin.

I still love Troy Aikman.

I still love Emmitt Smith.

I hate Terrell Owens and Donovan McTired.

I think Irvin and Ditka are equally terrible as analysts, but that's a good line by Ditka.

All you guys got it all wrong, that is not why Irvin is or gets loud. It comes from being in a large family, he is the youngest out of 12 kids right?

Well having first hand knowledge of big families like that, I can tell you it is not from grasping at straws, as one poster says, and it is not Ahdh like another suspects, or any of the other things.

When you are from a big family like that when a discussion is going on it is hard for anyone to state their opinion, and if you are the youngest, it is very very hard, because no one wants to hear what you have to say, or thinks it is important. Everyone in the family already talks loud to get their points across, but the youngest has to really be able to talk loud.

I've seen, experienced it. My Grandparent had 13 children, and My youngest uncle is the loudest he is a year younger than I am, I'm 41 or will be on Saturday, anyway he is the loudest because we always felt he did not know what he was talking about.
All my uncles are loud period.
My cousins are loud, My grandfather's brother married my grandmother's sister and they had 10 kids all are ludn and the youngest is the loudest, My Grandfathers 2 sisters had 8 and 6 kids all loud and the youngest is the loudest, and so on and so forth, other uncles and aunts had 5 to 8 kids all the same Loud, especially the youngest.

It has to do with your background/environment you grew up in. That stuff shapes your life and attitude and mentality, habits etc.

Irvin knows what he is talking about, Ditka just mellowed out because he use to be a loud person too. But he does not always know what he is talking about. He was a good player and a pretty good coach, he had one SuperBowl team, they were a dynamic team, but before that year and after that year he was just a mediocre coach.

So, Ditka's word is not gold, just like Irvin's is not gold.

its a reflection of his intelect. when he needs to get loud to prove a point it means he's lacking in vocabulary and can't make a compelling point. a lot of people have come from the same environment and through hard work have become well versed in their conversations.

I just look at all this as Ditka and Irvin having fun same for the rest of the ESPN crew, this is suppose to be a game not life or death. These guys enjoy what they do and have fun at each others expense. Myself I think too much time is spent on every word that these guys say, take it for what it is worth

They were both Cowboys players which is good by me...

I remember when Irvin was drafted and there was a cardboard life like picture of Landry. Irvin put his arm around it and said, "My new dad".

And Ditka respects Landry like nothing else. Playing and coaching under him.

GO COWBOYS!!!
