LOL NFL.COM takes away Spears 1/2 sack

so than they gave ellis the whole sack? edit: where did you see this? in the game thread it still says he got 0.5 sack

Guess I don't see the humor in them taking the sack away.

I thought it was funny cause he celebrated more than Ellis, when it looked obvious in live action (although I doubt he new since everything moves faster when you're playing) Bulger was falling when he made contact.

And I posted the link to the team stat page, thought I did at first, but I forgot.

The official GameBook lists Spears with half a sack. They still could change it, but it would be a bigger crime if it's taken away than if he's credited with it. Heck, Merriman once got credited with half a sack for jumping on top of Igor Olshansky after the quarterback (Peyton Manning) was already on the ground.

The one today where he was 3rd touching the qb after he went down? Ellis and Canty should share that one from the position I viewed..

Spears jumps up and celebrates a late hit:lmao2:

I guess it's funny. There's not much funny though about the fact that our former 1st round pick is playing average football.

That's funny, I could have sworn Spears got a sack on his own later in the game.

That nfl database is flawed... Try to rank all defenses by interceptions. they show the boys with 3, yet henry, hamlin and roy have 8 if you view by individual....

that's cause for some reason they are listing ints thrown, not recorded.

Spears played a pretty good game today, though it is obvious he more disruptive in the running game from the 3-4 de position then he is in the passing game. This defense needs guys like him just as much as they need guys like Ellis and Ware.

I don't know what you were watching. Canty was on the bench at the time. Ellis grabbed Bulger a split second before Spears grabbed him, and they both brought him down to the ground. Bowen was the guy that came in late.

I agree, he's consistently been a good defender against the run. I would love it if he could get 6-8 sacks, but as long as he is providing pressure, I'll take 2 or 3, cause Ware, Ellis and Spencer will clean up from the outside.

only in the bizarro world of Cowboyszone do we constantly see people banging on our own guys, even when they do good

from DC.com:

Short Shots

Phillips gave the players Monday off with an extra day of preparation this week leading up to the Bills game next Monday night. The team will resume practice Wednesday . . . Phillips said starting defensive end Marcus Spears had one of his best games yet Sunday, recording a half-sack and knocking down the Rams' quarterbacks multiple times. Backup Jason Hatcher also took some reps at left end.

How about Ware and Ellis on the outside and bring Spencer up the middle

or

Spencer and Ellis on the outside and bring Ware up the middle.

if we were to do either of these at least 3-5 times a game, it would blow the minds of the offense. I bet we would get to the QB at least twice a game using all 3.
