I want to pay cash for a new car. I ran the math and should be ready by spring/summer 2015. Seems like a long time, but as they say...

Are any of you saving towards a goal?

I hope to get my teaching certificate this summer and start teaching for the rest of my life asap

i'm chucking my job in august to go to india with the girlfriend for four and a half weeks then we're moving city imediatly after we get back. i've decided to take this opportunity to go back to college and do a course in garden design with the long term goal of starting up my own landscape gardening business.

There comes a time when long-term planners realize that the future is now. That's where I've been for the last few years.

(the old clock on the wall says it's time to go for it)

I have three goals right now. Only one is a real long term goal, the other is a couple of months goal, and the last is a couple of weeks goal.

I think it's health to healthy to have short and long term goals.

  • Double my income in 3 years
  • Get back to 185lbs. (down 10lbs now, just 10lbs more to go)
  • Learn to find at least five DSOs in my nasty light polluted front yard.

Get out of debt.

I horribly mis-managed my finances and was not prepared for the friggin' Great Depression we're currently in. I was in a commission only sales job for several years, but when the bottom fell out, I went too long without receiving a substantial income. Debt piled up.

By the Grace of God, I've finally landed a good job, and I can start digging my way out of this mess.

A car.

Started back in school to finish out my dual BS in Chemistry and Biology. Want to finish my novel by the end of 2011 at the latest. There's also a few inventions I've been tinkering with, and I want one of them to market in the next decade.

And like HoleInTheRoof, dig myself out of the Great Recession debt.

We're saving for one more year and that should give us a nice size down payment on a new house.

Can't wait!

What's the rent? Say if I need to stay for awhile.

saving for some gear, and then saving for some more gear.

So I can get my documentary underway.

Just a few more things to go.

Eventually get myself out of the student loan/other debt mess I have gotten myself into.
