Look at Jaylon Smith as Playing injured

When it comes to evaluating Jaylon Smith's abililities/performance, I guess it's just a matter of looking at/accessing him as someone who is playing with an injury.
Players play through injuries all the time and that's pretty much what Smith will be dealing with if/until he is fully healed.
He will be a few steps off of what he would be if fully healthy. From the looks of things, he doesn't look that far off from being 90-95%. I'm not sure if he will ever be 100% of what he would have been if he wasn't injured.

I see you already have a built in excuse. I will look at him as a rookie that has been out of football for over a year. A very talented rookie. We should see the talent right away based on what he was before and what he was hyped up to be. If the notoriously conservative coaching staff has put him in, it means hes ready.
