I don't agree with his premature annointing, and I don't feel like we should celebrate the fact that our uber-talented team is finally putting forth an effort. I think it's more of an indictment on how terrible Wade was of a coach, than how good Garrett is.

But with that said, I really like this line and will use it's principal in my coaching endeavors. It preaches being accountable to yourself, be your biggest critic. That's been my biggest problem with this team, they are driven by too many external things. You can't force a millionaire athlete to play hard, the player is the only one that can do that. That's essentially Parcells' philosophy about a player 'getting it'.

Work hard and constantly work hard to improve yourself. The great ones in any sport are the guys that were very hard on themselves, that couldn't stand losing, and were driven from within.

It's cheesy, but I really like the principal.

Its actually pretty simple on what he is saying. Look at yourself and see if you see something you are proud of. Unlike at the begining of the season that is. I.e. don't lie to yourself. Cheesy if it is a pickup line though.
