DEFENDING CHAMPS WIN EIGHTH IN ROW; SUNS LOSE AT HOME

After a big win against the Dallas Mavericks, the San Antonio Spurs might have taken the Milwaukee Bucks lightly.

Manu Ginobili scored 30 points and hit a 17-footer with 13.2 seconds left to give San Antonio a 96-94 victory Saturday night over the Bucks in Milwaukee, the Spurs' eighth consecutive victory.

"We are disappointed," Ginobili said of the team's effort. "I don't think we approached the game with the right mentality. But you've got to bring it every game because at this point in the season every win is huge for us."
The Spurs beat Dallas 97-94 on Thursday.

The Spurs seemed in control until the Bucks mounted an 11-3 run late in the fourth, capped by Charlie Bell's driving layup that gave the Bucks a 94-93 lead with 20 seconds left.

Ginobili responded with a jumper with Bell flying at him as the Spurs regained the lead 95-94.

"He's a big-time competitor," said Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich. "He has really pulled us along for the last month and a half. He has made a lot of big shots in a lot of big games all around the world. He likes that stage."

76ers 119, Suns 114: Andre Iguodala scored 32 points, and Andre Miller added 25 points and 12 assists as visiting Philadelphia held on to beat Phoenix for the first time in six years.

The Suns lost consecutive home games for the first time this season to fall to 2-4 since Shaquille O'Neal joined the lineup.

Amare Stoudemire led Phoenix with 26 points.

113, Grizzlies 92: Deron Williams had 19 assists and scored 13 points to help Utah send host Memphis to its eighth consecutive loss. Seven players scored in double figures for Utah, including all five starters.

Magic 118, Knicks 92: Dwight Howard had 26 points and 22 rebounds to help short-handed host Orlando beat New York.
The Magic were missing injured guards Jameer Nelson (strained hamstring, flu) and Keyon Dooling (sprained left foot).
Jamal Crawford had 23 points and seven assists, and Quentin Richardson added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Knicks.

Pistons 103, Clippers 73: Tayshaun Prince had 22 points and 10 assists to lead Detroit to its 11th consecutive win against Los Angeles.
• Yao Ming will have surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot, Houston Rockets officials said Saturday. The surgery will be performed Monday in Houston by Rockets team doctor Tom Clanton.

10 in a row for the Spurs now!

Timmy goes off for 29.

Spurs hold the Nets to 70 points.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan had 29 points and 12 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs beat the New Jersey Nets 81-70 Tuesday night for their 10th straight victory.

Manu Ginobili added 12 points for the Spurs, who sit atop a competitive Western Conference, where just a handful of games separates them from the eighth-place Golden State Warriors.

Vince Carter led New Jersey with 19 points and reserve Marcus Williams scored 16. New addition Devin Harris added 13 points.

The Nets have lost two in a row.

The Spurs dispatched the Nets with ease for the second time in three days, winning the season series 2-0. San Antonio won 93-83 on Sunday night in New Jersey.

On Tuesday, the Spurs took the lead for good with 2:19 left in the first half when Ime Udoka's basket broke a 37-all tie.

The Spurs surged ahead late in the second quarter off an 18-1 run that crossed over into the third quarter. Duncan's second highlight dunk of the game, this time over New Jersey forward Richard Jefferson, capped the burst to put San Antonio up 53-38 with 7:16 to go in the period.

During the burst, New Jersey didn't score a point for 6:42. The Spurs outscored the Nets 27-13 in what turned out to be the decisive second quarter.

The Nets managed to close within eight points in the third, but Ginobili stole the ball from Jefferson, then barely stayed in bounds on his way to a breakaway dunk. He followed with a 3 on the Spurs' next possession to put San Antonio back up by 12 points, 63-51, heading into the fourth quarter.

The Nets couldn't get within single digits in the fourth quarter, and San Antonio led by as many as 17.

Jefferson added 10 points for the Nets and Nenad Krstic grabbed 10 rebounds.

Tony Parker scored 11 points for the Spurs, Bruce Bowen added 10 points and Udoka had 11 rebounds.
