I have not and will NOT give up on this team this year. I think we have enough talent to pull something special out of the air. That said, I was thinking about next year and what we needed... and you know what.. I am very excited.
Lets look at our team for a second.
At the end of the year, what will we need:
QB- is Romo the man? If so.. we need to find a VET in FA to bring In. If not, we have some picks to trade up and get one.
RB- Good
TE- Good
WR- If we don't have to draft QB then take the best in the 1st round. Crayton, Hurd and Miles are going to be good,, Glenn and TO are getting up in years.. take a young stud in the 1st if we can.
LT- Hard to say, we have FLO and the Pat kid, if pat can play, no need to draft one.
LG- Kyle is not bad, had a bad game, but overall, not bad, no need here
C- Looks like Andre gets it.. AL is a good back up.. no need here
RG.. depends on Proctor, if he can play, find a vet in FA or keep marco as the backup.. if not.. we need to Draft one
RT.. I think Columbo is doing better than expected but got a schooling last week, he should improve, overall, I think he sticks.
Defense:
I don't see many holes at all to have to fill. I can see us drafting a CB in the 2nd or 3rd, Henry is getting up there. I dont think we draft any more safeties, Watkins is going to be a player. LB look to be in great shape, same with the DL.
So what it really boils down to, is finally, not having to draft for NEED or bring in Multiple FA to fill gaps next year. This will free up cap money to go after 1 or 2 high priced FA that can make an IMPACT and we can draft about 4 OL and see what we can do.
My biggest hope for next year is to bring in a true O Coordinator and a True OL coach. There is no cap on coach's salary.. so we can bring in whoever we want.
I hope Romo is the QB we think he can be, that would solve the biggest problem we have had in Big D since Troy left. But even if he is not, we are in great shape, with both Draft picks and Cap space to solve this problem next year,, unless the same people are in charge and bring in the same ole retreds.
