Looking at our next seven games

If he can be clutch in less critical games than why can't he be clutch in the games that matter most? That's the issue with him. Brining up Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and other premier QB's who've won championships and using their poor games as examples to try and defend Romo simply isn't going to work.

Pointing out Mannings 6 INT game was snark and a throw away comment. But thanks for concentrating on that.

There's 16 games. Every one is critical. Not just the ones you deem worthy of that designation to fit your agenda. Just because the game happens earlier does not diminish it's importance. Over the last 7 years it's taken on average 10-11 wins to make the playoffs. The Giants are sitting 0-6 but by your logic it's only week 6 so it's not a critical game for them to win in week 7.

We get it, you hate Romo and you think he is a choker in any sport he plays.


Its apparent that your mind is made up and there is nothing anybody can say that is going to change it. However, all this discussion is moot at this point because Romo got $50 million guaranteed on a brand new extension in the offseason. We could not get rid of Romo even if we wanted to without destroying our cap and releasing half of our players to do it.

So Romo is going no where and will finish his career playing for the Cowboys........................there really is nothing to debate at this point.

Pointing out the turnovers of a QB who some consider the greatest QB ever is pointless when he has an entire list of great accomplishments. Romo's resume looks like a used piece of toilet paper next to Peyton Mannings. For a QB to be in high regard their successes have to out weigh their failures. Even the greatest QB's have had a number of failures. There's not a great QB who's ever played the game who hasn't had some awful performances but they're remembered for their great performances. Some games are more critical than others common sense should tell you that.

The farther you go into the season the more important games become. A team can overcome some early losses but once you reach Dec you know where you stand and what you have to do to make the playoffs. By my logic if you're sitting at 0-6 you're screwed because every game the rest of the season is critical due to digging yourself a deep hole. The NFC East is so weak that 8-8 or even 7-9 could end up winning the division. The Giants already know after 6 games they have very little room for error the rest of the season. .

Romo is not a clutch performer in the games that matter most and his 1-6 elimination game record and 12 turnovers prove it.

Yet the more you lose earlier in the season the more likely those games farther into a season can become meaningless.

And you've written off Romo as if he already retired. Colts fans kept positive about their team possibilities even when their failures outweighed their success (much to do with the play of their QB) but god forbid any Cowboys fan do so. And if they do you're gonna make sure to jump in and harp on Romo negatives ad nauseum. This thread is conclusive evidence of it. If you don't believe me you're first post you called anyone being positive homers... er... excuse me ..."FANS". And it took you all of 2 more posts (#85 in case you need to reference it) to turn it into another bash Romo agendathon about "elimination games" and "ill-timed" turnovers and your newly made up "significant spotlighted games".

I said you can recover from some early losses but if a team starts off 0-6 every game from that point on is critical. The Cowboys started off 0-2 in 93 and ended up winning the SB as did the 2007 Giants who started off 0-2. The more games you lose early in the season the more critical late season games become. If you dig yourself an early hole you end up spending the second half of the season trying to dig your way out. I've written off Romo as being a championship QB. He simply hasn't shown that he can lead a team on a crucial game winning drive in a make or break game. I'm confident you won't find many QB's over the past 7 years who've suffered more Dec/Jan turnovers than Romo. When the heat is on he melts. I'm just telling it like it is about him he's an excellent QB who can't get it done in spotlighted games when it's down to him having to make a play. There isn't a football expert out there who hasn't said basically the same thing about Romo but FANS here continue to be in denial.

How many more instances like last Sunday do we have to suffer through before everyone is convinced he's never going to lead the Cowboys to a championship? Jerry mentioned ball security with Romo at the start of the season which is why we were seeing a lot of dinking and dunking the first 4 games of the season. Jerry mentioned during the scrimmage this past summer he didn't want Romo drawing up any plays in the dirt. The Cowboys don't trust him when games are on the line and there's a lot of fans that don't trust him and I'm sure there's players on the team that don't trust him. Most of Cowboys Nation was holding their breath last Sunday fearing Romo would throw the game away in the final minutes.
 
If Romo plays poorly tomorrow and the Cowboys lose this thread will die a very quick sudden death and you can mark it down especially if Romo suffers yet another ill-timed turnover.

Outside of guys like Palmer and Eli, no. As far as INT's go, Romo has 26 but thats skewed from his 3 seasons where he had 19 of them. Since then he's gone 1,1,1 and 4. Brees has 22 INT and Peyton has 19 since 2006. Brees had one month of 6 but otherwise he's been consistent 1 to 3 in those months. Peyton has one outlier in 6 but the rest are 1 to 4.

His Dec/Jan turnovers have reduced over the years but it's the ill-timed turnovers that continue to plague him. Favre had a career low 7 int's in 09 but CHOKED vs NO in the NFC title game. He had 2 int's and his final one ended the Vikings season. Favre is another QB who's had choking issues but his many accomplishments have overshadowed them. He's had almost as many bad plays as great plays but his great plays have been outstanding and some came in some very critical games.

I recognize Romo has made mistakes, some of which in big spots. But I don't dwell on it. Nor so I don't harp on it constantly.

My posting history says I know the team and I know Romo. I'm defending my position against those like you who keep wanting to deny something that everyone outside Cowboys Nation can clearly see. I've had FANS disagree with me who claim Romo could win multiple SB's with other teams. One FAN who's argued with me on this topic and claims I'm high on his ignorant list is predicting the Cowboys will end up in the SB this season. lol I'm one of the few voices of reason here.

Sorry, invalid argument. I'd take a QB who has his team winning from start to finish, never trailing, in a game any day over a QB who allows his team to fall behind by 13 points with just three minutes remaining and then suddenly pulls off an improbable comeback to win.


The Catch by Joe Montana was an impressive play, but you know what would have been even better for the Niners? If they had never trailed in that game to begin with.

How many QB's in the NFL can you name who win from start to finish every Sunday without ever having to play from behind? You're being silly if you think it's possible for any QB at any level to win from start to finish every week. This discussion is getting more ridiculous every minute and people question my logic. lol
