Dallas Cowboys Mandatory Minicamp began Tuesday June 14th 2016. Getting that out of the way instead of discussing what to look for in minicamp let’s take a look back at the 2015 Cowboys draft class, specifically how they contributed in their rookie campaigns. I will touch on some of key undrafted guys who contributed as well.
Byron Jones
Byron Jones had a great rookie campaign from my perspective. Moving all around the field Jones accepted and had success in all the responsibilities the coaching staff put on his plate. Going into the first few games of the 2015 NFL season Byron Jones played more corner than safety but that eventually shifted as the season went on. Jones had his best game in week 5 against Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots. Jones covered Gronk one-on-one for a majority of that game giving up four receptions for 67 yards and zero touchdowns. Some people may argue that’s not good enough but let me give you Gronks stats before playing the Cowboys in week 5. Week one against the Steelers Gronk had five receptions for 94 yards and three touchdowns, week two against the Bills Gronk had seven receptions for 113 yards and one touchdown, and week three against the Jaguars Gronkowski had four receptions for 101 yards and zero touchdowns. That’s a overall average of 5.3 receptions a game, 102.7 yards a game, and 1.3 touchdowns a game over the three games Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots played before visiting AT&T stadium. Jones did not record an interception all year but played consistently well in coverage throughout the entire season. Look for Byron to have a very successful sophomore season as he settles in to one position...
