First, i'll start with the good. Roy Williams is doing everything he can. Whenever the ball comes his way, he comes down with it. I don't see him committing penalties like austin and witten. He has been a huge bright spot so far this season. He has taken more heat than anyone since he's been here and he has worked so hard to get where he is. Good job.
I'm no expert, but i though sensabaugh and newman both played really well. Sensy seemed to be all over the field, and newman pretty much shut down his side of the field. Newman has been very solid this year. I don't see him playing 10 yards off the wr, and if he does, he anticipates things quicker and closes in on the wr before the pass can get there.
I would put dez in this category, but he did have the huge drop at the end of the game. He was afraid to get hit and short armed it. You can't worry about the hit in that situation. Good touchdown by him , but you have to make that catch on third down...
Now for the bad...
Romo seems to have stopped progressing, and may actually be regressing. That's 5 pics in 2 weeks, and he still makes some throws he should not attempt. Can't really fault him too much for that second pick. It was just a great play by the defense. But the first pick u have to put on him. He released the ball so low it bounced off the linemans helmet. How does that happen? I have backed romo for so long now, but i can't do it any longer. Over the years he has usually put us in position to win at the end of the game. But, most of the time those comebacks fall short. He is good enough to give us a chance, but not put us over the top. Doesn't help that nobody else on this team can make plays when it matters either.
Witten needs to get chewed out. He probably has more penalties than anyone else on the team. It seems like he gets a pass for being a veteran, but he needs to clean it up. Miles has also committed a lot of penalties this year as well.
The defense gave up less than 200 yards, yet the vikes scored 24 points. This defense can stop offenses, but almost every time they are put in a bad situation, they fold. They cannot defend a short field at all. They always give up touchdowns when the opponents start in our territory. Same thing we saw last week. They can't step up and make a play or at least force field goals in those situations.
The special teams have been atrocious all year. Coverage is terrible and buehler no longer kicks into the endzone. If this is not by coaching, then he should not be on the team. That's the only reason he is here is because of his kickoff ability. We gambled and thought he could be the field goal kicker as well. His extra points barely get over the lineman.
Jenkins is playing like crap. Now he has a reputation that will get flags on him almost every time he touches the wr. No reason for him to grab the guy at the end. The ball was uncatchable, but jenkins still held his arm down like an idiot. Perhaps it shouldn't have been called since it was uncatchable, but he has a reputation now and will no longer get the benefit of the doubt.
Garrets gameplan was terrible. The screens were not very successful yet we ran them over and over. The vikes had a banged up seconday, yet we did not try to take advantage of it at all. The gameplan showed they were afraid of the vikes pass rush, yet romo had pretty good protection most of the day. You would think they would notice this and start calling more downfield stuff to attack the weakness of the secondary, but we did not.
This team has no heart at all. Yeah, they are always there at the end with a chance to win, but they let everything that happens get them down. Anytime the other team makes a play, we immediately go into panic mode and fall apart. We were dominating until that kickoff return and after that we played like complete crap. This team has no adversity whatsoever. Whenever we have a turnover, its almost a given the defense will give up a touchdown.
Its so hard being a fan of this team this year, as well as the past few years. They play just hard enough to lose. They will never learn not to turn the ball over or not to commit penalties. We do that and our record is probably reversed. I know some of the calls have been bad, but we still do stupid things. Miles is an idiot for jumping over roy like that. How does that happen after last week. That right there shows they will never learn.
You could say it didn't matter because they didn't score, but it had an affect on the field position big time.
I'm still going to root for us hardcore the rest of the season, but do i think we will make the playoffs, no. Our division rivals are all playing solid football and seem to be getting better as the year is going on, except us. If we get hot we could make the playoffs. But this team has shown us nothing to make us believe that will happen. They simply do not know how to win.
