The thing that bothers me the most about this whole Dan Reeves fiasco is that all these tidbits came out before anything was official. You don't hear about other teams moves until they are official. I know the microscope in on Dallas ALL the time and I know that Jerry sort of allows this to occur but at some point individuals within the Cowboys need to step up and keep their collective mouths shut. We have too many people talking to the media at VR, way too many.

I can't really blame him this time, though. The team never made a single comment about Reeves -- the way Mortensen was telling it last week, he only knew about this because he was connecting the dots that Reeves had told the Niners he was taking a job in Dallas (and I believe Dan had cancelled some weekly radio show he did back in Georgia).

I mean, we obviously had way too many people talking during the year. But since the Senior Bowl, I really can't criticize them for talking too much.

That's not true. You heard about Tom Cable. You heard about Mike Shanahan being let go before it was official. You heard Herm was gone before it was made official.

Most of these stories are leaked before they go official.

The difference?

1. You're more intune with the Cowboys than other teams.
2. The Cowboys are bigger than other teams so the media coverage on anything Cowboys is going to be bigger.

I should have been more specific. I didn't mean in general. In today's world there are more and more insiders who uncover what's going on before it's official because of our need to know everything immediately. It's just the way it is. I meant specific details (that's what I meant by tidbits) like having an office already before the contract, that kind of thing. I agree with you a big part of it is because it's the Cowboys but it's not like anyone at VR tries to stop it too hard. Maybe that will change. Probably not.
