Losing faith in the integrity of NFL refs (re: non-call PI on Roy)

Mike Jenkins got away with an obvious PI that would've been for 30 or 40 yards.

In all honesty, it seemed yesterday's officiating benefited the Cowboys just as much (if not more than) the Chargers.

The officiating may be poor, but it's uniformly poor.

The PI's against Roy can be seen without replay. Even if he is in the corner of the screen you can see him being grabbed. With replay, it is even more obvious, and I agree, it isn't possble that the refs don't see it.

tbh, after that, I think the refs gave us a few make-up calls.

I thought the PI on Sensabaugh was way worse. To me, it looked like Floyd stopped intentionally, not even trying to make a play on the ball, so that the trailing defender would run into him as he tried to make a play on the ball. Which is BRILLIANT. But, I think the refs should keep their flags in their pockets when they see WRs do that.

Superpunk.....I agree about the call on Sensabaugh w/Floyd slowing up intentionally. I was at the game also. I also think there might be something going on in the entire NFL and although I can't directly prove it, it goes without saying that instant replay might have something to do with the refs decision.

Whether they get it right or not, most know that could be reviewed. I think some refs could easily take offence to that, the macho types, and call or not call because they can. I also think that MOST refs want to do a superb, mistake free job, and generally do but there are going to be those that are on their high horse because they think it doesn't matter if I'm wrong or right, it might be overturned.

I think instant replay has solved way more problems than it has caused and I'm for more cameras anyway but somehow over the years the officiating has taken a turn for the worse and I think instant replay and second guessing a call could but shouldn't have an impact on all games.

There's too many judgement calls for refs to make these days. We just added another one by changing intentional grounding penalties to where they have to be near the LOS rather than beyond it. If the NFL made more penalties less bases on judgement and more based on a solid rule like holding or false start officiating would be better I think.

The reason it gets worse and worse very single year is because these guys doing this don't have to worry about any sort of reprecussions for their blatantly missed calls.

Now I know everyone is human. I'm not expecting them to get every single call out there. There are plenty that I can see where they might not catch it or whatever but things like that particular PI, where it was out there in the wide open and there is absolutely no way that you could have missed it, there needs to be some sort of penalities the refs have to worry about for that sort of thing. If there were then they'd you'd see a lot less blatantly missed calls.

Of course the flip side to that is you'd likely also increase the number of ticky tack calls that are made out of fear of getting in trouble for missing a call others deem to be pretty obvious.

So I can see, I guess, why it is that there is really nothing the league can do about the calls.

The ticky tack calls in this league have to stop on both sides of the ball regardless of what team your rooting for. I still hate the 50yd PI call, alot of teams in this league will simply throw the ball down field and tell the WR if you cannot catch the ball create contact with the DB and theres a chance the offense will get the call. This must stop.

the refs certainly seem to have a problem with Roy. Time and time again the opponent blatantly interferes with him and there's no call.
I guess when a ref hears a player's own fans booing him why give him the benefit of the doubt. Screw him, hell his own fans hate him.

This is the first time I remember where the calls actually favored Dallas in the game...even though I thought the Sensy call was doo-doo and RW should have gotten a flag.

i think the fans coaches and players need to stop blaming the refs. RW needs to stop looking for a flag after every incomplete pass. Wade needs to stop *****ing about the refs after the game.

All you have to do is look at the Steelers recent superbowl appearances to know the officiating isn't on the up and up. Just ask Mike Holmgren. Are the Steelers really that mistake free in super bowls or is there another factor?

I was about to post pretty much the same thing, there is no question in my mind that the game is fixed (at least at times)... The Steelers - Seahawks superbowl was the tipping point for me in believing the game is fixed. Too much money involved from selling the NFL's popularity and gambling.

I have had no confidence in the integtrity of NFL officials since Super Bowl V when the refs took a fumble recovery away from Dallas and gave it to Baltimore. That crooked ref's name was Norm Schacter and every time he reffed a game involving Dallas, Dallas always lost on obviously very bad officiating calls.

Others can believe whatever they want for whatever reasons they see as valid but for me I believe that there are numerous game officials who deliberately make calls in such a way as to influence the outcome of the games or point spread in accordance with the wishes of organized crime figures to whom they are loyal.

That's just my opinion and I can't prove it but I believe it anyway and others can believe anything the wish.

This is what took you over the edge? As bad as the call might have been, there are calls each and every week that are just as bad.

Officiating this year has been atrocious.
I have to agree. it's been awful but not just in Dallas games. I've seen LOTS of non-calls that should have been flagged and lots of penalties that were so so ticky-tack.

Though one that *REALLY* annoyed me the other day was in this weekend (can't recall which, may have been SD @ DAL)) where a (?SD?) player kicked the ball after a play; no flag. A few weeks ago, I think Patrick Crayton was hit for a delay of game for doing just that. *THEN* on MNF, I think an ARizona player spiked the ball after a big play and was flagged for delay of game.

It's not that they call the penalties its that sometimes what is considered a penalty is inconsistant from crew to crew and sometimes play to play.

DAL @ NYG...the Brandon Jacobs long TD, Sensabaugh was very obviously getting held, yet not one single ref saw it...hmm that's the kind of non-call that has a direct outcome on the game. I think officials need to be penalized for missing those kinds of penalties or making wrong calls. IMO they need to be held more accountable for the job they do.

Our WRs get mugged constantly. Hurd twice vs Denver on critical plays, the illegal chuck on RW in that same game. The Philly game where Asante blatantly grabs Roy's arm. I could go on and on but you get the point.

The refs are totally bias. The last 3 weeks Romo has been level well after the play and no flags, are you kidding me? With all the ticky tack garbage that I see called for other QB in the league that one really irks me.

Ware and Ratty are constantly getting held then you see questionable at best calls on Bennett and Cricket all the time, but of coarse only when we make runs over 20 yards.

Feels good to vent, I hate officiating in every sport It is the curse of the game. The bottom line is good teams over come bad calls. Even though it is frustrating, almost every team deals with it.

Watching the replay of the game last night it looked like MBIII broke the plane on 2nd or 3rd down.

I am absolutely emabrrassed for some of you so-called Cowboy fans. Jimmy (and some others) have nailed this topic; you others need a diaper change.

It took OT to beat KC.

We beat the Skins and it was dang lucky.

You want to blame the refs.

Yeah, no wonder we havnt won a playoff game in 14 years.

We suck people. We simply are not that good.

That isn't the only horrible call we have had to take in a Super Bowl.
