Losing Tyson Thompson to IR is a huge loss because he was #4 in the NFL on net kickoff return yardage. Now we have to rely on Skyler Green to do the job, but that worries me because he's nowhere close to bringing what Thompson brought. This could really affect our field-position in games.

I dont think this is so much of a loss. There are several players lining up to earn a roster spot for next year. One of them will have to step up.

The thing I'll be worried about is that Tyson not only had good returns but more importantly he protected the ball. The last place you want to have a fumble is on a KO return ... just ask the Panthers. It'll take awhile before I'll trust anyone back there like I did Tyson. With that being said we've been incredibly lucky so far on the injury front. These are the types of losses a football team has to absorb without so much as breaking a sweat.

It is a huge loss. I was just thinking before he got injured if he would be a good guy to return punts.

I am nervous as hell when Newman is returning a punt. I just want him to give the fair catch signal and get out of the way.

I agree it's a big loss. All you had to do is see A Glenn's return to get a sense of it. I also feel really bad for the kid. It seems like he's worked really hard to become an important part of this team. To lose the season on a late hit like that is terrible.

he's a bust. he has never returned one for a td, he runs straight up the field,he does'nt dance around and run around in circles and loose yards like hall does, don't be fooled by the stats that say for the last two years he has been one of the best return guys in the nfl.HE HAS NO TD"S

And some of his returns came in preseason, those don't count either.

Yes, that is a big loss. Maybe the difference maker this season, because it will necessarily cost us points.

I think its pretty premature to say that. Losing an average of 2-4 yards per kickoff return could hurt some, but it isn't a huge difference maker. Not to mention that it isn't yet certain that we can't find an adequate replacement.

Many various opinions, and I see points in all of them.

It is a loss, because he did protect the ball, however, even though he may have been a league leader, he wasn't breaking any long ones either. A few 50 yarders, but that's it. I remember him just getting about 20 yards then runs into a pile. Rarely hits (or gets) a hole to go through. And rarely, just seems lately, he cuts it to the outside. But then, too many times he cuts it back in...right into a pile.

Now, it's easy for us to say that, sitting on a bar stool or a couch. But I don't think we will see a huge difference in average starting field position. Just hang on to the ball.....

I don't think it was him as much as other plaayers not doing their part enough.

All said and done, I would raather him be back there. I have been feeling lately he was due to break one, he was getting closer.

I really hope they put a massive fine on that Panthers player who drug him down when he was at least 2-3 yards out of bounds.
