Petitti reminds me of Kevin Gogan who despite his height was best suited as a guard. Of course Rob was injured and is very young so he may improve his footwork and power yet. Regardless, Petitti will be a valuable part of the team next year.

We need to find a at RT who can play, that might end up being Petitti, but right now I doubt it.

Yet I would not go 1st round on a tackle. As far as I'm concerned, and this is just my opinion.

I gotta agree with you here -- unless you there is a guy at 18 who is a top 10 type talent you have to pass. OT quality is usually pretty similar between the mid first and early third or so which is why mid to late round first guys are often busts. O-line guys are very hard to judge coming out of college -- you can usually ID the top studs and the late round duds -- but that middle of the pack is hard to gauge - every year you will see someone that was a projected 2nd rounder go undrafted -- or at least fall way way down. Teams that draft for need here end up burned. And if you are going to get burned, do it in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

I know folks here love McNeil -- but he'll likely be one of those guys that falls due to his back issues -- I'm calling him a 3rd round pick.

Larry Allen needs to hang em up, or go looking for work in Oakland. His time here as a Cowboy is over in my opinion.

He's long in the tooth.

If we have to start Petetti and Johnson, my expectations will be nil.

the 1st round is designed for your Exotic positions on the team. QB/WR/HB/CB/DE.

I would usually agree with the strategy of not taking OL in the first round. The exception is LT prospects which are hard to come by and valued very highly in the league.

If a legit LT prospect drops to #18, that should be the pick unless a top 5 player is on the board. He can play RT for a year and then transition to LT in his second year in the league.

Would you guys have a problem with the boys going Oline in both the second and first rounds. I could see Parcells picking McNeil in the first and the best guard in the second. Probably Spencer or Lutui. He will probably go either linebacker of safety in the 3rd.

Whatever it takes.

Not that Bill Parcells has had the best of luck drafting offensive linemen while at Valley Ranch.

Al Johnson(2nd), Jacob Rogers(2nd) and Stephen Peterman(3rd) haven't been what we'd hoped for. Andre Gurode(2nd) is in this group, too, but he was drafted the year before the Tuna jumped in our pool.

I despise paying too much for over 30 free agents as we did last year with Marco Rivera, but I equally hate seeing first day selections wasted.

And yet the offensive line must become less offensive if we are ever going to get any consistency on that side of the ball.

I think Flo as a few good years left in him. But we need to get this defensive front 7 fixed, or else we'll be able to put up a couple more points, but can't stop any body when it count.

When I say any body, I mean the teams with a good OLINE and great running game.

Depends on what we do in free agency. I would rather spend the draft picks on D.

I've chimed in on this several times, but Bill is on record as saying that he thinks you can find good offensive lineman later in the draft. This is the guy who got Ryan Young and Randy Thomas very late in the draft. They both turned out to be good players.

The problem is that any time you draft a young player, you have to have some patience. They are going to make some mistakes.

The other problem in Dallas is a real lack of being able to work well together. This line just doesn't seem to mesh well. They have no chemistry...however you want to word it.

I think that if you tweak just a couple of parts, this line might work much better together, and some of the players who are considered "bums" right now might look a lot better.
