Been checking out a lot of vids and audio lately and here are some trinkets that I think some of you may find interesting - All links are at the bottom of the post.
The origin of the "Hulk Smash":
Ratliff stated that it started out in college. He just heard the news that his wife was pregnant, made a goal line stand and it was something he "just did". Once he got to the NFL, he and his daughter were watching the incredible hulk and she looked up at him and said, "daddy, that looks like what you do". It took off from there.
The turning point of the season:
According to a few of the players, it was the overtime in KC. Brooking, while walking off the field with Ware after the KC win stated emphatically to Ware, "That defined our season right there". Bradie James, amongst others reiterated that, "from that point, we knew, we had the confidence in ourselves".
Parcells set Ratliff's fire:
On draft day when Parcells talked with Ratliff on the phone he said, "I guess we're gonna draft ya" and once Ratliff got there Parcells told him, "you don't even belong in this league" and "you shouldn't even be on this team". Ratliff says that plays in his head everyday and keeps his fire burning.
Romo's "Houdini Move" for the TD:
All 4 rushers that Tony avoided on that play were all on the ground like a bunch of rag dolls - 3 of them fell down simultaneously while trying to get Romo.
Brooking has a different mentality - an unmatched fire and passion:
I would highly suggest listening to this one with the link below, the way they describe Brooking just can't be put into words, but for now...
Sham asked Ratliff who else, since he's been here, has had the kind of fire Brooking has?
Ratliff states, "there has never been anyone like him with that fire and intensity. Don't get me wrong we've had leaders, but there's more than one way to lead."
and, "Keith is just intense, I know I keep bringing up that word, but intense is an understatement for Brooking". Crayton chimes in with "You would have to be there to see it".
Also, Ratliff states, "In practice, you back off a bit physically but stay strong mentally. But he (Brooking) has this game-like mentality during practice".
They both also bring in statements while laughing about Brooking head-butting everyone with his helmet off; Brooking always playing in your face with such passion; Summing him up, "he just has a different mentality"; And how it fires guys up and everyone follows him.
Ware had 3 guys blocking him and still got the sack:
I can't find the vid for this one but I'll post it if I can find it again. But below are all the links with the appropriate times.
And I really wish I could find a few particular Romo vids from before the season. Those explain so much in many different regards. They show just how hard Tony worked this offseason to continue to improve in many different areas. The results are showing more and more (i.e a 1.7 int percentage and so much more). If I find those vids I'll add on - I always prefer to link when I post.
Also, big thanks to Shango and DCFanatic from the dallascowboyshow.com and other contributors for the vids - Including the Cowboys' official site
