I don't think Jerry fired Rob without a plan. Lovie was a huge Cowboys fan growing up and one would assume coaching here would be one of his dream jobs. I think the pitch that gets him here is: Def Coordinator, Asst HC, And if Jerry cans JG next year Lovie would have the opportunity to take over the organization.

Why not give the potential water boy the title Asst HC as well? It seems like they hand that out with every new hire.

That is usually a recipe for success, in terms of Garrett and Lovie working together

Great.

So Dallas hires another coach coordinator with promises of the coaching job in the future.

Sounds like such an awesome plan it's almost unfathomable that it didn't work out the first time.

Why would Lovie not just take another HC job?

Maybe he won't be offered a HC job. You keep acting like he can write his own ticket.

I see he's got an interview in Philly now. Maybe he'll get that but I think there's a very real chance he's got to settle for a DC job next year.

Why wait until next year ?? Get rid of Garret now, hire Lovie to be the HC and Norv to be the OC.

The thing about potentially getting Lovie is he would be not for long. He's liable to leave in a year.

From the tidbits i've heard, he would probably not get a HC job right away... Might have to coordinate for a year or two before he gets another shot at it!

I think I've mentioned already that I'd love this.

Lets see. Good coach, gets top notch defensive play and just won 10 games.

Yep, sounds like a guy who could do pretty well with a QB.

That's the rub with getting really good coaches. Especially ones who meet the Rooney Requirement.

I'd be happy, though. You never know: he might find a long-term home here.

I hope the Philly thing falls through even if he isn't coming here. Last thing we need is to remain last in the division on coaching talent again.

Isn't he a tampa 2 guy? That would be a waste when you just got two man guys at corner.

Lovie is a far more accomplished coach who even did a better job last season than the man he would be working under. He has too much pride to come in here and take orders from coach in training.

Despite your disdain for Garrett he is well respected among coaching circles in the NFL.

Once again just because you hate him does not mean the rest of the NFL see him the same way as fans.

irony....?

I think it is Lovie Smith. Horton is not on the DC market and lateral moves can be denied.
