I wanted to look at how the lower round picks have done under the last three coaches. I listed the guys who had some playing time here or went on to play else where later. Many of these guys are bottom tier players and shouldn't be starting but that's a different discussion.

Parcells years:
2003: Bradie James (4th)
Tony Romo (UDFA)
2004: Nate Jones (7th) JAG, Played until 2011.
Patrick Crayton (7th)
Jacques Reeves (7th) JAG, played until 2012.
Terrance Cooper (UDFA) JAG, played until 2012
Lousaka Polite (UDFA) JAG< played until 2012
Torrin Tucker (UDFA) JAG, started 23 games for Dallas.
2005: Marion Barber (4th)
Chris Canty (4th)
Rob Petitti (6th) JAG, Played untill 2010
Jay Ratcliff (7th)

2006: Pat Watkins (5th) JAG, Played untill 2010
Miles Austin (UDFA)
Cory Proctor (UDFA) Played until 2010
Steven Bowen (UDFA) Still playing.
Abram Elam (UDFA) played until 2012

The Wade Years:
2007: Doug Free (4th)
Deion Anderson (6th) Played until 2010
Alan Ball (7th), JAG, still playing.
Remi Aydele (UDFA) JAG, played until 2011
Sam Hurd (UDFA) JAG, played until 2011
2008: Scandrick (4th)
2009: Victor Butler (4th)

The Jason Years:
2010: Sean Lissemore: (7th) JAG, traded to SD and still playing.
Barry Church (UDFA) JAG
Phil Costa (UDFA) JAG
Danny McCray (UDFA) JAG
Jeremy Parrnell (UDFA) JAG
2011: Dwane Harris: (6th)
2012: Kyle Wilber: (4th) JAG
James Hanna (6th) JAG
Ron Leary (UDFA) Starter
Darrion Weems (UDFA) ?
Lance Dunbar (UDFA) ?
Orie Lemon (UDFA) Still playing
2013: Jeff Heath (UDFA)
2014: Anthony Hitchens (4th)
Devon Street (5th) JAG
Tyler Patmon (UDFA)
2015: Too soon to tell but only has Wilson and Swaim as maybes.
La'el Collins (UDFA) Clear steal here.

Parcells found a few gems but got some football out of the marginal guys. He couldn't draft/develop OL for some reason.

Wade is a terrible developmental coach. He can coach a defense but isn't a guy who is going to get the most out of his young players.

Jason is getting play out of these guys even if he isn't finding/developing the gems, other than Leary. Some of his UDFA guys are playing because Wade left the cupboard pretty bare.

I'm honestly not even sure what point you're trying to make with this post.

With Parcells, he made almost all of the personnel decisions himself. He has historically been a bad drafter though and more of an X's and O's kind of guy.

As far as Wade and Garrett go, neither has done any shopping on their own. Wade inherited a lot of Parcells' trash and the rest he drafted with the help of Jerry and his tools. Garrett has been guided by Jerry (his usual tools early on) and most recently McClay.

All of that said, it has been analyzed to infinitude and the Cowboys drafts seems to grade out pretty close to every else's. They're not discovering any more diamonds and their not picking any more busts, than the majority of the NFL.

I think labeling guys as JAGs that are clearly starting is a little misleading. Barry Church may not be a an all pro, but he was a good find and has been serviceable for the last couple of years. Jeremy Parnell is a starting RT for a really bad team. That means he is starting for a team because they don't have quality players or his quality of play is bad because he plays for the Jags. I think as a team we have always did a good job pulling people at the end of the draft. We really get hurt in the 2nd-3rd rounds.

I wish parcels never used the term JAG. IT is way over used, and way too much subjective.
If the player isn't an all pro, I guess he is a JAG.
A Dallas player is always a JAG, but the same type player on other teams, we RUE that we didn't get them.

Garrett came in and started getting rid of over paid, under performing, and aging players.
We became one of the oldest teams, to one of the youngest. This all takes time, a good 3 years or so. That started to show last year, but got derailed this year.

How about JAG meaning changes to Just All Great. That will be next heads theme....

And we are 1 game out of first if we win tonight....
