Well, maybe not ever, but if the Pats win, I'm predicting that it will be absolutely brutal on those companies who spent big bucks on advertising!

I seriously doubt that. Not with NE going for #4. I'm not convinced they're even going to MAKE it..........NE that is.

Anybody know which is currently the lowest rated Super Bowl? Could probably shed some light on this situation...

What's it going to be then, eh?

That's nearly impossible to legitimize.

The game is bigger now than it was 30 years ago. I am sure it is an older game, but I think any discussion should be limited to the last 20 years or so.

Actually it's not, because some Super Bowls from the 70's still hold sway over some more recent ones in Share percentage. If only I could remember that website...

Yes, but "share percentage" is a simple statisitical estimate.

There are more TVs, more channels and more options now.

It is an estimate, but it is certainly not simple and it's proven to be pretty accurate across the decades. Neilson wouldn't still use it as one of it's primary techniques if it wasn't. And percentage is the only stat that won't be skewed by the number of televisions tuned in.

Obviously it's impossible to compare the two perfectly, but it still gives you a pretty good picture. And this is only my opinion, but I doubt more channels now makes much of a dent in numbers. If you're not going to watch the Super Bowl, you're not going to watch it. Another 100 channels isn't going to change that. Plus, with the advent of Tivo, people just record whatever else it is they want to watch and keep the SB on.

It is interesting to note that all of the Dallas SBs win or lose are very highly rated. And the boys last SB was the highest in the last 11 years.

A ratings bonanza would be Dallas and New England, the battle of dynasties.
New England can play uis next year and lose but i want them to not even go this year.
