LSU FB Quinn Johnson clears the way

Quinn Johnson was once the feature back on a state championship high-school football team in Louisiana. But that was a long, long time ago.
Johnson carried the football only 14 times in 2008 and just 16 times in his career at LSU. He did score three touchdowns with his 14 carries last season -- but generating yards and points were not his calling in college. Johnson went to LSU as a linebacker but moved to fullback in 2007. He became a starter in 2008 and served as the lead blocker for Charles Scott, who rushed for 1,174 yards and 18 touchdowns.
And that will be Johnson's role in the NFL. He goes 246 pounds and is the best blocking back in this draft. Mike Sellers was the NFC's Pro Bowl fullback last season but rushed the ball only 12 times for the Washington Commanders. Fullbacks don't get many handoffs in the NFL. That's OK by Johnson. He doesn't miss the glory of running the football.
"Blocking makes up for it," he said. "I love contact."
