LSU supplants Oklahoma atop AP's Top 25

Okay, I can see that.

This, I don't see. I see a University that tucked it's tail and ran. I think they were blinded by the fact that it's the SEC and didn't think about whether they would actually fit in. Texas A&M is a long way from Florida. I doubt a lot of Florida high school athletes will go all the way to A&M if they can land in an SEC school that is much closer. (not to mention a better football team)

We "tucked tail and ran" to the best conference in America? We're not leaving the Big XII for the Big East, we're leaving for a conference that has won five straight national titles and is on pace a sixth this year. We arent doing this because we're afraid of the compeittion in the Big XII, otherwise we would be going to an inferior conference.

Also, the recruiting advantage doesnt extend to other states so much (though A&M currently recruits Louisiana and Florida very well) but gives A&M a card to play when OU and Texas come calling. Many athletes want to play in the SEC. A&M has already picked up two commitments who were previously committed to other schools, citing wanting to lay in the SEC as the main reason. Will it be a world of difference? No, but it will help get a few players every year who we wouldnt have gotten otherwise, we're already seeing that play out.

I'm not sure ESPN gives a crap that Texas A&M left. The Longhorns will still play a team even if it's not Texas A&M. It's the Longhorn Network, not the Big12 or Texas A&M Network. Whether Texas (Longhorns) leaves the Big12 for the Pac or not. The Longhorn Network will still exist.

Why would ESPN care that Texas A&M won't be playing the Longhorns every year?

Hey

Who's signed up for the LHN? I can't find where people are beating the door down to get put on the LHN.

How many games will they be showing?

ESPN HATES EVERY TEAM...if you are a fan of that team.

We see people here who think ESPN (as a whole) hates the Cowboys.
I have seen Commanders fans say the same thing.
I have seen other College Football team fans say that ESPN hates their team.
Heck at one of the WVU boards one guy has a running list of all of the people on ESPN who "hate" WVU just because they don't always say something positive.

The whole ESPN hates everybody thing is boring and annoying.

But they do! Not because they actually do, but because it pays to hate on a fan's team. That gets them angry and they watch more ESPN and click on links at their website! :laugh2:

The Pac-12 currently does not allow independent TV deals, and Texas would at best have to modify the deal to make it work out there. You think USC will sit by and watch Texas put them on the backburner? You think Oregon and their almost unlimited financial pull will allow it?

Why would ESPN care that Texas A&M won't be playing the Longhorns every year?

I'm sure they don't. What they do care about is their $300 million dollar investement, one that is already starting to look like a failure.

You mean besides the $93M they made last year?

You mad that OU got kicked out of the #1 spot? :muttley:

It is? Texas is still the highest grossing university football team. (by a large margin)

ESPN called Texas A&M a "remedial school" on air and has time and again questioned the intelligence and integrity of the people in charge. Don't give me the classic "ESPN hates everyone lolz" line. I've seen my education and my degree questioned over a freaking conference change on national TV over the past few months.

Yadda Yadda Yadda ESPN hates us...Quit Picking on Us ESPN.

Here is a shocker...you are a second tier team compared to Texas and Oklahoma and you will be a second tier team to LSU and Alabama. People don't like to hear those types of things but it is the truth.

For every complaint you have of them, I can find other teams fans that say the same thing.

You are moving to a better Football Conference...that is the only excuse needed here. No need to complain about Texas or ESPN.

I feel the need to complain when the institution I attended gets attacked over an athletic issue. ESPN is a huge influential media outlet, this isnt some random idiot making these attacks. People care what ESPN has to say, and right now the average American thinks my degree is akin to toilet paper because we're too freaking stupid to see the light and bow to Texas.

Cry me a river...seriously...big bad ESPN makes me look like an idiot...that is what you are basically saying and I guess if you believe that line of thought the old saying if the shoe fits might apply.

You take what they say about ATM and I hear the same exact whining from WVU fans.

Maybe you should go to ESPNU since you hold their opinions in such high order and their power to make others think a School's students are stupid. You really are giving them power OVER YOU with this incessant whining.

But I guess that is your call.

Polls mean ####. I have said that numerous times. I don't care Oklahoma was #1 or not #1.

I asked you who has signed up for the LHN.

You seem to know a lot about it.

Rome wasn't built in a day. What did you think was supposed to happen? It would be in all cable households across America on day one?

Get a grip.

The following are signed on thus far.

  • Consolidated Communications
  • En-Touch Systems
  • E-Tex Communications
  • Bay City Cablevision
  • Mid-Coast Cablevision
  • Texas Mid-Gulf Cablevision
  • Verizon FiOS

I don't know the exact amount of households there are with these, but this page is reporting about four million.

They are still in negotiations with:
  • Time Warner Cable
  • Charter Communications
  • Dish Network
  • DirecTV
  • Suddenlink
  • AT&T U-verse

Just because they aren't signed on yet, doesn't mean they won't be. These guys are backed by ESPN. Any cable station that carries a sports package will end up carrying LHN. Just like all the other college networks.

I would sign up for it tomorrow but I can't get it where I live. That's a drag but I'm sure it will change in time. In the mean time, I will just catch the games I can and follow the ones I can't as best I can.

I hope they talk with TCU. I would like to see more of their games up here in NY. I would buy the sports package if they got it.

I have LHN and I love it. I spend a lot of my free time with it on.....I watch interviews, press conferences, women's soccer, women's volleyball, replays of the football games. It is such a wonderful network for us burnt orange homers.

BTW, the Aggies are not even a second tier team. I would put them third tier....even with the very good year they had last year.

Texas, OU, OSU, Missouri, and Nebraska were all better than A&M. Even Texas Tech was better during the Leach era. A&M was right there was KSU and Colorado in the 3rd tier. But hey, at least they were above Baylor, Kansas, and Iowa St.

It's ok that you won't have Texas to look up at anymore, you will still have your sheep.:D

One last thing, I cant wait for Georgia to let UGA get him some of Revilee.

Speaking of Leach...heard rumors he might be the next coach at New Mexico but I would think he would want to go elsewhere.

I hope TCU falls into hell and sucks even more than they do this year.

:lmao2: :lmao2:

I'm here all day!!

They should not have a poll until after 4 games or so anyway. It's good to see they didn't get fixed on a number one just b/c they were there before games were played.
If OU or Florida goes and a roll and LSU lapses, then I'm fine with the tables trurning too.

ESPN currently has a vested financial interest in running down A&M, nobody expects them to say anything different. Posting ESPN articles and blogs criticizing our move as proof that it is in fact a poor decision is akin to someone using Mein Kampf as proof that the Jews are in fact the root cause of the world's financial problems.
I think you pretty well prove the quote's assertion of how out of touch you all seem in College Station, take off the tin foil hat, Baylor alumni Trey Wingo is not conspiring ESPN against you.

Nor is the Texas legislature unfairly giving advantage to UT and not A&M, you're one of two schools that refuses to revenue share oil profits with other state schools because you're grand fathered in by an archaic law.

The most powerful governor in Texas history is an Aggie and incumbent, pretty sure he has some pull to do favorable things for A&M and neutralize any supposed Longhorn bias in Austin.

You are not picked on, you're just divorced from reality, and unfortunately the university's integrity is done disservice by smoking gun proof they acted in bad faith in their claims to remain committed to the Big 12 last summer.

The one in need of perspective is you, you've failed to see how asinine the school looks to the general public and you've continued to tow the line on various threads about all those undesirable stereotypes.
