Lubbock Station Sticking by Story

Joshskeety of cowboys-forum.com actually called the station and they are sticking by their story - despite the ESPN stories that it's bogus. Here's a a transcript of his discussion with the station personnel:

Wonder why theres so much going back and forth on this? Maybe there are some aspects to the contract that haven't been agreed on and TO is still on the fence and no one wants to make an announcement until he actually signs.

Dunno. They said on Cold Pizza a few mins ago that they're trying to keep it under wraps until Jerry gets back from his vacation to be there for the announcement.

One would think that they would realize it's not being contained well and JJ (seeing as he has his own jet and stuff) would cut the vacation short and head on home.

Thursday night, Lubbock's KLBK-13 CBS TV reported that the Cowboys have struck a deal with Owens. But when contacted by FOXSports.com about the report, agent Drew Rosenhaus vehemently denied that any such deal was finalized.
Despite Rosenhaus' denials however, a source close to Owens told FOXSports.com that the receiver has in fact agreed to a three-year deal with the Cowboys — a deal that likely won't be announced until the weekend in order for owner Jerry Jones to be available in Dallas to properly make the announcement.

REPORT OF T.O. SIGNING IS "BOGUS"



Reports originating from a Lubbock, Texas television station that receiver Terrell Owens has signed with the Cowboys are "bogus," a league source with knowledge of the situation tells us.



KLBK 13 says that sources with the Cowboys have told the station that Owens already has been signed, and that the move will be announced on Monday.



On one hand, we could envision the Cowboys intentionally leaking misinformation in order to scare off other potential suitors while owner Jerry Jones wraps up a vacation. On the other hand, why in the hell would the leak be made to a television station in Lubbock?



Bottom line -- there's no deal, and the reports are erroneous.
