Luepke to play big role in offense - again?

I really don't expect huge changes from the offense other than just having a better roster this season. Luepke played a pretty heavy role down the stretch last year, and they lined him up all over. Watching games back I was shocked at how often he is lined up at TE and even in the slot. He was a 20-30 snap guy most weeks on offense plus ST work on top of that.

Bad news for guys like Sanders, Mafah, Vaughn if Luepke is a lock to make the team. Probably means there is just one spot left between the three of them.

Mafah was never going to make the team, nor Vaughn. Sanders is a maybe.

Hmmm I think Sanders is toast. They will keep Mafah over him. That’s my view.
When they see how slow he is to the hole, it's doubtful Mafah makes the team. Maybe PS.

Yeah, unless Blue just isn't good, I don't expect Sanders to do much.

I think it comes down to number of TEs they keep. If they only keep 3 this makes it easier to carry 4 rbs with Lupke being last guy as he can play TE spot. He also plays on punt team, Mafah would have to show he can play teams to unseat him this year, in my opinion.

That incredible draft/scouting team really did a great job on a historically good RB and DT draft class I tell ya.-sarcasm extreme
LOL

Cowboys!

His versatility definitely helps him stay on the roster.

If the young TE's don't impress, or the RB's look shaky in pass protection or if Schotty does want a lead blocker- Luepke should have a spot on the 53.

He would really have to fumble T.C. to be on the outside with the depth at RB and TE stepping up

Luepke is really just a heavy HB.

In college and with Dallas, he doesn’t play like a traditional FB.

He’s not a bruising runner. He’s not a terrific run blocker or even pass protector.

I’ve always felt the Zone overrates him. He’s a pet cat choice.

He’s ok. If we didn’t have two back sets I imagine he’d be fighting for a roster spot.

I thought Mafah had someone here posting about feeling Derrick Henry vibes with him?

I'm confused.
LOL
People get enamored with draft picks (see above) and attribute all kinds of crazy comparisons

Mafah is Travis Henry. Luepke is Mike Daryl Johnston (or even Mike Alstott).

The thing about fringe players is because they are never actually able to stay on the field as a starter, fans can always say they are underutilized and waiting for their breakout.

Deuce is another example.

Looks like Derrick Henry AND Darren Sproles "incarnate", might not make the cut.

How could they let two future HOFers slip through their grasp?
