Luepke to play big role in offense - again?

That simply isn't true. Never been any reporting of this anywhere. Nothing in interviews with coaches.
Tolbert replaced Cooks at WR2 when he was injured. He didn’t produce to the level of a WR2 which is why we traded for Mingo. Didn’t you tell me we traded for Mingo to replace Cooks? We had a discussion about it. Refresh my memory.

Big Luepke fan, can press a hole & slide 2 holes over better thsn anyone we got or had since prime Zeke... but
....in dallas its a political game

But not enough snaps or balls to give him a big role...over higher draft pics or profile players

I thought Mafah had someone here posting about feeling Derrick Henry vibes with him?

I'm confused.
LOL
Read the same post and remember thinking to myself at the time that the comparison was an absurd reach.

Luepke is really just a heavy HB.

In college and with Dallas, he doesn’t play like a traditional FB.

He’s not a bruising runner. He’s not a terrific run blocker or even pass protector.

I’ve always felt the Zone overrates him. He’s a pet cat choice.

He’s ok. If we didn’t have two back sets I imagine he’d be fighting for a roster spot.
Agreed I was surprised he didn't seem very powerful after all the build up around here

They say this about every player here lol Jason Garrett still lives here
It's an honest opinion by the coach that Luepke does everything well. That's why Luepke made the team in the 1st place. He should have played over Zeke.

Who lied? He didn't say he would be a big part of the offense.
I think the headline alludes to a big role. The headline is he is set to become an important weapon. Schotty said he will play some RB, some FB and some TE. Maybe the author is reading into it. Or maybe from the overall conversation with Schottenheimer it was his conclusion.

Sure he will. Lupke allows Dallas to go short at RB and/or TE with his versatility. Fans may not understand it but he's a dirty work player. Lupke's snap count increased on offense from 153 as a rookie to 328 last season. His snap count on special teams went down from 61% to 37% because Dallas valued him more as an offensive piece. 11 of Lupke's 33 carries were converted 1st downs and of his 15 receptions 11 were also converted first downs. He's also been active for 33 of 34 games. Lupke is never going to be a star, but he's a versatile, available, chain mover that's had a reliable career thus far.
:hammer:
Luepke is a good player. They should of played him last year instead of Zeke.

Can't fumble if you never got the ball. That's a missed handoff, y'all act like he got hit and threw the ball in the air lol. Would've been a TD too, the guy can run the ball, just flat out say you don't like him and state the reason.

I really don't expect huge changes from the offense other than just having a better roster this season. Luepke played a pretty heavy role down the stretch last year, and they lined him up all over. Watching games back I was shocked at how often he is lined up at TE and even in the slot. He was a 20-30 snap guy most weeks on offense plus ST work on top of that.

Bad news for guys like Sanders, Mafah, Vaughn if Luepke is a lock to make the team. Probably means there is just one spot left between the three of them.
If I were the Cowboys, I would go young and keep these 4 as my RB group:

2 Thunders: Luepke (FB) and Mafah (TB)
2 Lightnings: Blue and Vaughn

Keep one or two of the old veterans on the practice squad just in case, but I would definitely go with youth, speed and health with the RBs group.
