Luepke to play big role in offense - again?

Leupke has absolutely gotten a chance, and is used often for the type of player he is. Hes not getting the ball in his hands a ton because he simply because that isnt what he does best, but last year he had 250+ snaps from the backfield, 40 snaps at TE, and 32 snaps from the slot. Thats roughly 20 snaps per game he got last year, not including special teams.
He didn't get the ball much because they were stupid and played Zeke.

It's the staff's responsibility to determine whether Luepke deserves to an active player or not. They'll determine whether he's capable enough to be awarded that distinction, whether this membership approves of it or not. That's just a fact that won't be denied by the staff's choosing.

Let's just accept what isn't likely to be changed to suit those opposing the staff's decision in the future. Yes, we all have the rights to our opinions, but that's all this issue amounts to. Luepke will serve whatever purpose that the staff sees fit to give him. They don't cater to our whims. Deal with it.

If I were the Cowboys, I would go young and keep these 4 as my RB group:

2 Thunders: Luepke (FB) and Mafah (TB)
2 Lightnings: Blue and Vaughn

Keep one or two of the old veterans on the practice squad just in case, but I would definitely go with youth, speed and health with the RBs group.
I’m all for that, I just suspect they are going to keep Williams.

I think the three tailbacks (Blue, Mafah and Vaughn) would have to look extremely good in camp and the preseason for us to do that. The coaches would be putting a lot of trust in three players with very little to no NFL experience.

I think Williams will be kept and the plan is to start him as our primary thunder. I think Sanders is here just in case Williams isn't as good as they hope or the young players do not look ready to contribute. It will be interesting to see how it sorts itself out, but going young means those young guys have to show they are worth it.
RB room will be Williams, Sanders, Blue and likely Mafah but maybe Luepke.

I thought Mafah had someone here posting about feeling Derrick Henry vibes with him?

I'm confused.
LOL
I typed out a post a while back hoping that Mafah would have some Derrick Henry vibes ,I wanted Henry here pretty bad.I would like to see Mafah make the team and contribute he is a big back and looks pretty descent on film.

Not a big role,.. just a minimal one. Don't think he has top run skills or dangerous receiving skills to be a big role but
more less, it's the gain yards he does or would get when he is called upon to get those touches in key schemed down & distances.

Plus any improvement in his lead blocking.
That and special teams will critical in being able to make the final RB spot..imo.

I don't think Sanders will make it unless Williams doesn't. I think we might do him like Cook last year and put him on the practice squad. The only way he makes it IMO is if one of the rookies is no good along with Vaughn.

I think it will be Williams, Blue, Mafah or Vaughn and Luepke. I don't see any way that Luepke gets cut.

The Cowboys were hoping that Tolbert could be their WR2 but he wasn’t producing like a WR2 when he replaced Cooks. I believe that’s why they traded for Mingo. We were clearly looking for a WR2. Mingo did virtually nothing despite being with us half the season and that led to the Pickens trade. This from Google.

“Why did Dallas trade for Mingo?

Now, with the Cowboys needing a No. 2 receiver to go alongside CeeDee Lamb, Stephen Jones has mentioned Mingo in glowing terms, stating that he has the potential to be a No. 2 receiver. We also heard at the beginning of April how hopeful Stephen was that Mingo could develop into something substantial this offseason. May 1, 2025”
The reason the Cowboys traded for Mingo was two fold. One, they had a 2nd round grade on him and could get him for a 4th. Two, they knew they weren't bringing Cooks back and Mingo could replace him this year. Both of those facts are straight from the FO.
