I will tell you this. Jason Aldean is despised by the big names of traditional country music. They think his stuff is almost as crappy as Big and Rich.

Which is strange considering he is widely compared to Garth... But hey can't please everyone

Garth teetered on both sides. Made some great music, but stepped in the corporate world too much at times. That whole Chris Gaines thing was disturbingly weird.

Garth was the first megastar that uprooted country music from what it had always been and made it city music. He did some great stuff early on though.

Luke is a talented artist I think it's funny how people hate on him and some of the other country singers. Country is the most popular music right now. If you don't like it thats cool, but don't discredit people who have talent. He is actually pretty good live as well.

People are having a hard to grasping the fact that Country music is evolving and it's been brilliant that they have decided to take a bit of the rock under tone. It's allowed Country music to open up into other venues. It's has some great party tunes and I for one dig it.

I also take it some of you have never been to a Country music concert or festival, let me tell you the talent level of the ladies is off the chart! Did the route 99 harvest festival in Vegas and it was out of control! PBR in Vegas is out of control... Stage Coach out of control...Lots of Buckle Bunnies for sure.

Jason Aldean is widely considered one of the best arena singers since Garth Brooks.. I just see a bunch of haters here.

*pop undertones.

Can't wait to see him rap about getting a girl drunk on moonshine and driving her out in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road while "airhumping" on stage.

Also, he sounds like hick Kermit the frog. There are very few modern country artists that are tolerable and not complete sellouts.

Two of Country Musics biggest stars are Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood. Just a couple weeks ago they both were on a show talking about how bad of condition country music is in. Blake said it's the worst it's Ever been since it's creation. I listen to all kinds of music. I Have been to many, many concerts from almost every genre. Was in the sound and recording industry for almost 20 years. With all that being said, I will say Blake is 100% correct. Country music right now is in a downward spiral. It's lost it's Grab on the most popular music because they tried to conform to the industry, instead of putting out great talent. Everyone sounds the same, and hardly anybody is that good. Completely in a identity crisis. They want to be rap, they want to be rock, they want to be pop, they just don't want to be country. It's hurt the industry big time and their numbers illustrate that. It's not my opinion, it fact. Most of the artist out there right now are completely industry made frauds. No talent, just looks and feel. Most are studio made stars that can't sing a lick. Just like so many other genres right now. Really sad.

Yep country music has evolved and not for the better. Without hearing any of this guys music im guessing its highly watered down country music, with a dose of pop with maybe even a bit a urban flair thrown in the mix to keep it credible with the youngsters. Of course they cant forget to add in the prerequisite fiddle solo for credibility. Usually at halftime I am far away from the TV and this year wont be any different.

What a perfectly refreshing comment. I agree. Total identity crisis. Is NOTHING sacred?

I saw a youtube video showing SIX different current "country" songs that used the EXACT SAME guitar riff with subtle differences. That's about as pop/watered down/commercial as it gets.

it's always sad to see good genres get pop-corrupted for the sake of sales, but what are ya gonna do? There's a lot of folks out there that like that stuff...

Get a recording contract - press now obligated to say 'music star' in your description.

Well Justin Bieber , One Direction and Miley Cyrus are "music stars" as well. If there is one thing that is factual about this is that it apparently doesn't take a lot to be a "music star" these days.

That's not evolving. It's devolving.

The lyrics, the chords, the look and sound.....it's all corporate nonsense that a beginning musician could play.

Country music is about telling real stories. Not all country singers used to have the same singing voice. It used to be personal, not canned.

Now it is produced EXACTLY the same as One Direction or N'Sync. It's corporatized and formulaic and spoonfed to the "artists", who are just playing a role. These aren't even country people playing this stuff anymore. They never lived it.

You are right on with the process. Many of the 80s pop hair bands and 90s top 40 writers and A&R have infiltrated Nashville since 2000 crossover era. Mainstream country has moved toward the visual than the original. There is a viable business model with the most loyal fanbase so it is monetized.

The same thing happens in rock, but rock fans (especially harder versions) are notoriously fickle and the new fans are chasing trends until they are told the trend isnt cool anymore. Ex: As hard rock went glam - Metallica made it uncool. As Metallica moved from Masters to Black album and Load, Nirvana made them uncool. Then emo, screamo, etc. NSync, Backstreat Boys, 98 deg all ong songs from a group of 1-3 rotating writers. This is roughly the same formula in country - except no new country artist makes fun of it and fans really dont care

You just arent gonna see a Bocephus, HW Sr, Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart, Risky Skaggs, be the country of tomorrow - wrong look and style
