27. Dallas Cowboys – Paul Dawson, OLB, TCU – Free agency could have a big impact on the Cowboy’s starting linebacker group, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them grab one with this pick. Dawson reminds me a bit of Tampa Bay’s Lavonte David, and would wreak havoc in Rod Marinelli’s defense.

59. Dallas Cowboys – Gerod Holliman, S, Louisville

91. Dallas Cowboys – Preston Smith, DE, Mississippi State

123. Dallas Cowboys – David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa

I'm personally not a huge fan of Holliman...there are a couple of other safties like Harris or Hackett I'd rather have. Maybe even a CB instead, but like a lot of other positions, free agency will determine the need there. Other 3 are all very good picks though.

Holliman is your definition of a true ball hawk safety which we've been missing since woodson left!!

We don't need another SS we have 2 playing already in church and J.J i would love him in the 2nd rd provided we hopefully we are able to grab a decent Dline player in the1st

Holliman looks really good.....if all you look at is the INT's. And both of the guys are mentioned are FS's.

Safeties also have to tackle people.

I would actually LOVE this draft.

Dawson is my guy. Hollimon is a true centerfielder. Smith has position flexibility as well as being a good player. Johnson was sneaky good Senior Bowl week.

I am hoping Dawson pulls a hammy and doesnt run in the combine because his stock is trending up.

I like Dawson a lot. He is a stat sheet stuffer and makes a ton if big plays. The DE's in our range aren't graded that high so we can't reach for one.

Read Holloman had a reputation amongst his team mates as not being the hardest working guy. Leery about him particularly in the top two rounds.

If that's true then we can X him off the cowboys list right now. No way Garrett or Marinelli sign off on a guy like that.

One AFC East director of college scouting claims Louisville S Gerod Holliman is "lazy and doesn't practice hard."
The personnel director noted Holliman has a "knack for the ball," but wonders if that skill will trump his practice habits. We would add a significant hangup: Holliman's tackling. Obviously it is not the top trait teams look for in single high safeties, however, Holliman can be a liability in space or in one on one tackling situations. It is believed Holliman dealt with a shoulder injury in the past, and he definitely favors one side when attempting tackles. Jan 8 - 9:48 AM

a FS still has to tackle,he may have to make the most important tackle sometimes.

Yeah, you can count him out. He'd have to slide to the 6th round probably before Dallas would ever take a chance on him... and that's if they would at all.
