He played great this year and I hope they find away to keep him. Seemed like he really figured things out this year. He ended up being a key player on defense. He’s going to get some offers this off-season and I doubt Jerry will match which is going to be another mistake that he’s made.

He gone. He's a CAP casualty that we have to take, can't afford ALL 'our guys' and we've got Clark that'll be expected to step up. The reason we never seem to be involved in the better FA's isnt that we're not interested its that most of the league can easily out bid us....it only takes one team and this year there are 16 teams in positive CAP (as opposed to our near $10m deficit)

You’re probably right.

LVE was playing pretty well at the end of 2021. 2022 was not a big surprise to me. He probably still has more upside.

The hope is that the league was last year, and remains this year, just too scared of his neck condition to risk a real salary on him. His salary last year was ridiculously below his value. Maybe the league will be dumb again. Could happen.

Even as dumb as last year, the price is still coming up. But *maybe* not too high.

+1 .........I know they'd love to bring him back and I think there's a small chance if we get Dak's cap numbers down. But the $7-8M range is going to be tough coz he deserves every dime of it.

LVE played great??? This is why we don't get far. Selective favorites......LVE played decent. His lack of lateral speed is still a liability and to say he played great must mean the applause on this board is at a lower standard. Obviously there is a Fan Club.

He has played great before. This year he was healthy. That makes a difference. I hope the Cowboys can find a way to keep him also. Barr is certainly gone. So if we lose LVE that is 2 holes to fill at LB. No bueno.

I don't think he'll get crazy offers that would be beyond what Dallas would want to pay him. I think he has played well enough for a multi-year contract and believe his range is still a hair above the Josey Jewell contract from a year ago.

He played decent/good with more consistency this year. This could be a decent FA LB class that would hurt his chances for top bidders IMO. IIRC, he does like Dallas, and the FO/coaches like him so I think they'll get something done to lock him up for 2-3 years.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if this team decides to retain him for a reasonable contract.

That shouldn't prevent us from drafting a promising candidate to allow Micah to diversify his play.

The injury he had takes a while to get comfortable with sticking your neck out there into a car crash. He will put in the same effort this year. But needs support around him. I would for sure get him for 2 years. But remember he played on a prove it deal last year.

With the Chargers having cap room issues, they would be wise to try and trade Khalil Mack ($27M cap hit with $9M dead money) thereby clearing up $18M in 2023 and $27.7M in 2024 cap space and to replace him go after LVE.

Guy has tremendous football smarts and instincts, who was limited by the cervical vertebrae fusion surgery. The fact is, when your vertebrae are fused, your range of motion becomes more limited and the way the body absorbs hits is changed.

I’m surprised he lasted this long as the careers of guys like this are shortened dramatically, but his return to the defense and watching him constantly get the defensive players aligned, showed how valuable he was. Not sure how long he can last physically, because this type of issue has progressive deterioration.

If he was 100% physically, I think he’d be a lock for the HOF.

We need him.

If not, our LBr room is Clark, Cox and the rookie from last year. Which is not good.

He could get a tag.

LVE and Schultz are both worthy of the tag.

If they tag LVE then that exposes Pollard, Schultz, Wilson, McGovern, and others to leaving which, if they are smart, they do leave as Dallas is a dumpster fire and even in his 2nd year Parsons is calling it out.

They already COULD use a good LB. Losing LVE would mean they have a critical need for one and could use another good one.

I agree as long as it's at the right price. I wouldn't overpay for him.

But yes, bringing him back would be smart. You can't just keep creating holes. You can't fill them all in the draft. So while we could use a LB in the draft, if you let LVE walk, you need A LOT of LB help in FA and the draft.
