Lynch vs Wentz, what are your thoughts?

I'm curious because I see a lot of people raving over Wentz lately. I understand lots of the fascination over Wentz had to do with the fact that we could've possibly stolen him in the 2nd round. But he seems to be surging as of late and we'd probably have to spend a high pick on him anyway. Meanwhile, Lynch seems to be the forgotten man. I don't know too much about either one, but I'm curious to get people's opinions. Those that love Wentz, do you love him more than Lynch, and if so, why?

They seem to have almost identical physical attributes, speed, arm strength, both have high intelligence. The two possible knocks on Wentz (played against lower competition and is 2 years older than Lynch/Goff) isn't a knock on Lynch. So what makes Wentz so much better than Lynch? Lynch has all the tools that Wentz has, played in Division 1-A, and is 2 years younger. What am I missing?

I am with the OP,that one bowl game is dropping Lynch down(plus the very basic offense they run at Memphis but i think that was their best chance to win with limited talent).

14 months older I've seen posted. What separates them is the system they have come thru college in. Wentz in a proset under center a lot, Lynch in a largely shotgun spread offense system with a pre-determined read---

Catch 17 has stated that as well about Wentz playing under center a lot which is huge coming into the NFL.

I prefer Lynch. I like Wentz, but he's more inconsistent than Lynch at this point and did it against far inferior competition. It's not a blowout by any means, but if I had to choose, I would take Lynch and be pretty confident about it.

Both are good QB's but Wentz as I have read have read has better ball placement of the two.
Now who is the quickest at diagnosing defenses and going through reads? I am guessing
Wentz but I dont know. If we end up with either one I'm happy

My assumption is whoever they take wont have to play until 2017 or 18. I think Lynch has a chance to be elite versus Wentz and Goff who have a chance to be very good. If he can sit and learn, I'd rather shoot for the stars with Lynch.

Lynch has better accuracy , better arm strength , and just looks more fluid for his size. Lynch reminds me of a mix between Big Ben and Andrew luck . Where as Wentz reminds me of a mixture of Andy Dalton and Alex smith. I take lynches ceiling anyday .

I also see more potential in Lynch than the others. Not very enamored with Wentz and I feel like Goff's frame will not stand up to NFL punishment.

I would be ok with either. But Wentz looks me nfl ready.

I don't see dallas using a 4th pick on a qb though.

I think the NFL personnel see that as a bigger plus than do the vast majority of Fans........

Its very hard for me to say because what is really going to seperate them in my eyes is whats going on upstairs

I havent heard any negatives from either in regards to football character

I would be fine with either. For some reason, I just think Wentz is the safer pick, and also has a slightly higher ceiling.

I feel like 14 Months is overblown. Other than just having a strong arm Wentz has better pocket presence, comes from pro style offense, plays tough, in command, and looks to have the intangibles of a leader. Reminds me of a Roethlisberger/Alex Smith mix. I'll take him. It may take a couple years before he gets on the field but by then, depending on the month he'll be 26 and Lynch 25 (tomato/tomatoe)

I am going back and forth on Lynch and Wentz right now. But I'd be happier than a wolf in a hen house no matter which one falls to the Boys. But then Goff is my #1 choice. The way its going, the Cowboys better wind up with one of them in this draft.

I think next week will go a long way to figuring out what we do with #4. But we won't really be privy to much of the information.

Paxton Lynch is bigger, more accurate, looks more durable, has played against better competition, has a bigger arm and has the higher ceiling.

SAFEST QB IN THE DRAFT

While Wentz is a late riser coming on because of some serious over-hype, with a slighter frame which equals exactly what we don't need, another injury prone QB.

NIGHTMARE #4 PICK

NIGHTMARE #4 PICK

Carson Wentx 6-5 #235 North Dakota State

2014, he became the starting quarterback. He started all 16 games, completing 228 of 358 passes for 3,111 yards with 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 642 yards and six touchdowns.

Lynch - 6-6 maybe ? #245

2014 He completed 259 of 413 attempts for 3,031 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions

He also rushed for 321 yards and 13 touchdowns

Go watch him against any good team and tell me how he did. He's overrated." That's what one college scouting director told me this week about Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch. Games against Ole Miss and Houston would definitely back up this statement.
