Machota: 15 biggest Cowboys takeaways from combine

Let’s revisit this because I think all this chatter is based media types simply presuming the Cowboys will want to fill a supposed hole at TE since they won’t be tagging Schultz.

I think the pick is either a CB, WR or OL.
ok let’s do it. The cowboys show their hand every single year. This is no different

My issue is not picking a TE at 26. I like Kincaid as a prospect and feel he would be the perfect replacement for Schultz.

It’s their lack of any aggression and want to fill any needs via free agency.

Their arrogance, to feel like they will land starters at WR2, LG, MLB, CB2 amongst other depth positions in one draft is what makes fans angry.

We saw Ferguson play and he looks like a solid player. I feel like TE is lower on the need spectrum.

If they sign a starter or two at LG, LB etc, drafting Kincaid makes it much easier of a pill to swallow. But we know this team will fill holes with Jason peters and Anthony Barr types
Of course this is the problem. Everybody knows it.

There is a very good chance we will go into the draft having lost a starting TE, CB, LG, LBer and S. You can argue we have legit replacements for LBer, LG and S. That would leave TE and CBs as priority targets IMOs. At 26, we could have a chance #4/5 CB, #2/3 TE, #1 G, #1/2LBer.

Also, a trade-down is something we have not heard a lot about but is always on the table with Jerry.

I'm prepared for the Rams and the Bucs to be at the bottom of the league. I suspect that the Cowboys have a good shot at winning the division and advancing in the playoffs.
The Rams and Bucs have won the Super Bowl 2 of the pst 3 years.

Good post. Nice use of logic there.

Yes Jerry, the Cowboys will stay relevant while the Bucs and Rams rebuild and polish their Lombardi trophies. If you’re satisfied with just making the playoffs then good for you, I won’t argue. But it’s undeniable that the Cowboys haven’t actually attempted to win a Super Bowl for 27 years straight. It’s not even a question that I’d trade a Super Bowl for a few rebuilding years.
It's a broken record bro.

He absolutely has no clue of what real post season success is and is the Jones spokes person on their version of relevance, regular season banners and post season participation, NOT wins.

He tries his best to stay relevant here though, but like the Cowboys, has very little luck in actually supporting his opinion on what true post season success is.

His ceiling, again as with the Cowboys, is enjoying the regular season.

Chronic and terminal Jerry fan disease level 4.

14. Youth needing to step up. The Cowboys do not see the need to follow in the footsteps of the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles, 2021 Los Angeles Rams or the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers with aggressive free agency moves or trades to improve their chances of a Super Bowl run. Jerry Jones pointed to needing younger players to step up in their draft-and-develop program. He didn’t name specific players, but some he was probably referring to would be DE Sam Williams, LB Damone Clark, CB DaRond Bland, S Israel Mukuamu, OT Josh Ball, OT Matt Waletzko, TE Jake Ferguson, TE Peyton Hendershot and WR Jalen Tolbert.
Ball and Tolbert are giant busts. I wouldn’t hesitate to draft over either one like I’m in a road grader. AAMOF, I don’t want to see Ball in a game ever again if it’s FOR us.

Well, I would bet that you're right but I can't dismiss Tolbert as a bust just yet. Ball is an easier concession.

Their presence on the roster shouldn't have any bearing on what we do in FA however.

Agreed. Just letting my disdain for those two be known. We need to do whatever we can to make this team better. Regarding Ball, he looked like he JUST STARTED PLAYING THE GAME. Very disappointing for year 2.

The Rams and the Bucs are two of the worst teams in the league right now and the Rams are quickly going for the worst record in the league.

I think the tight end position would pay off better than wide receiver. If you take MM seriously admitting a stronger running game will require interior line help and a top R&B. That also protects DAK I will provide more time to read the field. It’s simple to me what do I know
