Wasnt that an excuse/reason prior to his weight loss/conditioning?

Yep, and can see the opportunity to trade down to 29 or 31 and still get Avila.
I watched Torrence and Avilla at the senior bowl and they didn't look great. Slow footed and pushed around a bit more than you want from a 330lbs guy. Certainly nothing like what we saw from Zack Martin in 2014 and he was up against Aaron Donald and Dee Ford. I want to like a guard at 26, it's a huge need but I just don't see it in those two.

MG was average before injury.
No, he was not......he was exactly what you expect from your 2nd WR. Sure he tried to come back too early from his injury but he will be completely healthy and ready to go this season. There won't be a WR available at 26 better than a healthy Gallup......hell make him earn his $13M salary (lol).

Torrence got near universal praise for his Senior Bowl performance and if you're going to compare to Zack (16th pick) you're always coming up short. Broaddus was very down on Torrence early on, he seemed to have lightened up with the weight loss, it would be interesting to here his view.....but I get he downgrades him as his a straight ahead blocker, not used to pull.

If we want a Guard we'll probably be able to trade down.

Lamb and Cook. That’s 2.

MG was average before injury.

That's fairly harsh.

  • In 2019 when acting as a no.2 he had 1,100 yards which was as productive as any no.2 WR in 2022 (except Waddle)
  • In 2020 numbers dropped (843 yards) but remember that was with Dalton as QB for 11 games and he was the 3rd target after we added Lamb
  • In 2021 he was on track for around 800 yards with Cedee commanding more of the ball that's understandable, but he only played nine games so the sample size is pretty small.
Sorry but that's not average. That's a good receiver, probably not too far behind Chris Godwin and Tee Higgins as a no.2 when you consider he wasn't actually a no.2 in 2020 and 2021. He was dog **** in 2022 though.

Sad that QB isn't listed as it's the most pressing need on the team. Hendon Hooker will likely be there when we pick and it makes me sick to think they would pick a TE over a starting caliber QB.

Again you're blaming last years problems purely on WR's, when the issue was an inability for: KM, DAK and Receivers to scheme against defensive teams that that dont blitz (9ERS and Comms) as opposed to the Eagles and Buccs who blitzed and the passing game was able to feed.

Most of us look at Cooks inclusion as a big improvement (slant and speed), not just as a WR2, but gives slot flex with CeeDee, stops defenses doubling up or scheming for CeeDee and frees up Gallup as WR3 (who most reasonable fans believe) will improve after a year further down the line after an injury (confidence and physically).

With Cooks/Gallup probably here in 2024, we'll possibly look for a development pick (unless there's a Cee Dee type must take faller).
Check daks prior years. Same scheme same oc different recievers.

Fair to say the wr room was lacking

I wouldn't take an interior line where we are unless they were top 20. Just not enough value in it. There value of taking an interior OL is of you can get a prospect like Martin, Ragnow, or Ruiz low because teams undervaue them
If they trade down with KC for example. I could see them taking Avila there.

....same result/outcome vrs good zonal Defences. Fair to say the Eagles and Buccs wins makes the issue a tad more complex than just blaming receivers.

I just get the feeling they're going to try their hardest to get Steele in at LG. I can see Mafi either in rd5 or 6. They have insurance with the ex Jets guy. And the have had talks with Elijah Williams. I think they will sign him after the draft if they dont get what they like in the draft early. There's Vorhees too. This yr is the perfect yr to get a guy who you can sit a yr. And build up other areas like WR, secdary and TE, RB. And have that bridge player.
yes i like the idea of voorhees low and sit a year
